Mu Jinyun

Mu Jinyun is an influential Wise Clan cadet who directs Chun Muyeon's Academy faction during the prince's absence.

Biography

Acting for Chun Muyeon

Mu Jinyun becomes Chun Muyeon's senior lieutenant within the Demonic Academy and addresses the prince as an elder brother. When Muyeon is absent, Jinyun gathers the Wise Clan faction to discuss removing Chun Yeowun. He has no direct order to kill the rival, so he seeks a deniable method that uses the hostility of other six-clan cadets instead of exposing the Wise Clan alone. (Chapters 139–143)

The resulting coalition plans to poison and ambush Yeowun. Jinyun believes he can preserve his faction by managing the participants rather than striking personally, but Yeowun kills the attackers with techniques copied from their own clans and stages the bodies to implicate one another. (Chapters 143–145)

Arrest and the Failed Defense

More than forty armed instructors arrest Jinyun and Muyeon because both are established Grandmasters and might resist. Jinyun sends telepathic questions to their remaining follower but cannot discover why they are suspects until he sees the bodies. The marks of Wise Energy Hand, Wise Demon Sword, and Right Sword Left Hand make the evidence appear to point directly at Muyeon. (Chapters 144–145)

Jinyun loses composure before Muyeon does. He calls the scene a trap, blames the dead conspirators for initiating the plan, and demands that Yeowun be questioned. Yeowun arrives with the formal authority of an elder and forces Jinyun into an impossible claim: accusing him requires explaining how one man used the secret arts of several clans while leaving none of his own traces. Jinyun understands the frame only after revealing enough of the conspiracy to damage his defense. (Chapters 145–147)

Imprisonment and Death

The Academy seals Jinyun's internal energy and confines him with Muyeon while the clans turn against each other. Their imprisonment collapses Muyeon's faction because opportunistic supporters no longer see a path to succession. (Chapters 147–149, 163)

Yeowun later uses both prisoners as bait to draw Lady Mu and her supporters into a controlled confrontation. Lady Mu kneels and begs for their lives, and Yeowun appears to release them before cutting away their arms and legs so she experiences the loss inflicted on his own mother. He then decapitates Jinyun and Muyeon. Official accounts later attribute Baek Churku's death to them, helping fuel the destructive war between the Poison and Wise clans. (Chapters 164–189)

Appearance and personality

The corpus gives no stable physical description. Jinyun is calculating and faction-minded, but less controlled under pressure than Muyeon. He is willing to organize lethal action without explicit permission when it advances the Wise Clan, then alters his account and blames subordinates when the scheme reverses.

Martial arts and abilities

Established Grandmaster Internal Energy

Jinyun reaches the established Grandmaster level while still an Academy cadet. The Academy sends a large armed group with Hou Jinchang because only that senior instructor is expected to match either prisoner one-on-one. Jinyun can also exchange telepathic messages, showing controlled internal-energy projection. (Chapter 144)

The source does not document a full personal duel or name Jinyun's own formation. His rank makes resistance dangerous, but the internal-energy seal removes that advantage in prison and leaves him dependent on Lady Mu's rescue attempt. (Chapters 144, 149, 163–167)

Faction Coordination and Deniable Planning

Jinyun's strongest demonstrated skill is operational coordination. He convenes Muyeon's cadets, identifies rival clans willing to attack Yeowun, and tries to keep the Wise Clan one step removed from the killing. This gives the faction action while its prince remains cautious. (Chapters 139–143)

The plan fails because Jinyun does not control the evidence or understand Yeowun's ability to reproduce other martial arts. Under interrogation he exposes the conspiracy in an attempt to establish an alibi, allowing Yeowun to turn partial truth into further proof against him. (Chapters 144–147)
