Jahyun

Jahyun is a Loyal Clan cadet who has served Chun Mukeum since childhood and acts as the prince's planner inside the Academy.

Biography

Childhood Retainer of Chun Mukeum

Jahyun is related to Chun Mukeum through their mothers and has sworn service to him since childhood. At the Academy he acts as the calmer planner beside the prince's temper. When Yeowun remains in medical care, Jahyun arranges for the twenty-third cadet to injure himself during real-sword practice and enter the same ward as a spy, promising clan support to the weaker boy's family. (Chapters 15–18)

The attempt fails because the coerced cadet resents Mukeum's abuse and warns Chun Yeowun. Jahyun's knowledge still lets him identify the doctor and investigate the unusual protection around the supposedly powerless prince, but every plan starts from an incorrect assumption that rank will make lesser cadets obedient. (Chapters 18–19)

Formation Sabotage and Defeat

During shield formation practice, Mukeum orders Jahyun to kick Yeowun from behind so the group will blame him for failure. Jahyun concentrates internal energy in the strike, but Yeowun reflects it through a body barrier and throws him backward. Instructor Impeng interprets the fall as another safety violation and assigns punitive training. (Chapters 20–21)

Jahyun correctly reads the reflected power as more than the Black Dragon Ball should provide. Even so, pride overrules caution when he later insults Hu Bong and attacks Yeowun with the Loyal Clan's basic fist. Yeowun evades and knocks him unconscious with a strike to the neck. (Chapters 21, 24–25)

Preserving Mukeum's Candidacy

After Mukeum is hospitalized, Jahyun recruits and organizes Loyal Clan cadets so the prince can return to the contest with a functioning faction and obtain a yellow tag. The work demonstrates durable service even after their early schemes fail. (Chapter 86)

Jahyun cannot advance far enough to remain useful in the final Academy competition. Lee Hameng later lists him among those who fail while other followers pass, ending the retainer's direct role in Mukeum's succession bid. (Chapter 93)

Appearance and personality

Jahyun has short hair and a protruding chin. He is calmer and more informed than Mukeum, but his intelligence is wholly devoted to the prince's violent ambitions. He uses weaker cadets as tools and repeats attacks even after recognizing Yeowun's abnormal power.

Loyal Clan Fist and Internal Energy

Jahyun practices the Loyal Clan's basic fist art and can focus internal energy through a kick during formation. He has enough knowledge to estimate that Yeowun's reflected reserve exceeds thirty years and cannot be explained by ordinary absorption of one Black Dragon Ball. (Chapters 20–24)

His demonstrated combat ceiling is low relative to the main contenders. Yeowun reflects the kick, evades the fist, and knocks him out before a longer sequence develops. No advanced Loyal Clan formation is documented for Jahyun. (Chapters 20, 24)

Covert Planning and Recruitment

Jahyun devises indirect attacks, identifies useful personnel, and maintains Mukeum's network while the prince is hospitalized. He can turn clan promises into cooperation and rebuild a test group quickly enough for Mukeum to regain a yellow tag. (Chapters 15–18, 86)

The plans repeatedly fail because Jahyun underestimates the agency of coerced cadets and the speed of Yeowun's growth. His organizational skill preserves a faction but cannot carry his own martial advancement past the later tests. (Chapters 18–25, 93)
