Gam Rosu, known as the Godly Doctor, is an elusive physician whose expertise becomes important to both private rescue efforts and the Demonic Cult's research.

Biography

The hidden physician of Sword Creek

Gam Rosu begins as a physician whom even powerful martial clans cannot simply summon. Access to her is controlled through an orange tag, and Mun Yun gives his tag to Chun Yeowun after Yeowun treats Mun Yu. Yeowun initially keeps it as a possible means of obtaining help for the incapacitated former Lord Chun Yujong. By the time his expedition reaches Sword Creek, however, Gam Rosu is effectively confined inside a hidden mansion guarded by the Mudan clan. Although the tag obliges her to receive a visitor, she repeatedly says that she cannot leave. (Chapters 216–220, 252–278)

Her confinement is tied to the Blue Sky Brotherhood's “Extreme Martial Body” project. The Brotherhood claims that stronger bodies will help it defeat the Forces of Evil and rescue Gam Rosu's kidnapped granddaughter, Gam Miyan. Desperate to recover her only family and successor, Gam Rosu agrees to research how a human body might be pushed beyond its natural limits. She works from an inherited medical book whose surviving pages include a detailed diagram of the body, but the Brotherhood keeps her under supervision and withholds information about Miyan. Gam Rosu gradually suspects that her supposed allies are exploiting both her medical knowledge and her fear. (Chapters 289–293, 296)

When fighting erupts around the mansion, Gam Rosu helps Yeowun's missing expedition escape through a secret passage. Hu Bong and Hou Sangwha pose as patients while the group removes her from the compound, and her defenders pursue them as they flee. The rescue exposes her to the scale of Yeowun's power, but it also costs her the inherited book, which is lost during the confusion and later recovered in damaged form from Hing Wunja. Back at the mansion she immediately searches for it, revealing that the manuscript is not merely research material but a generational treasure. (Chapters 278–296)

Bargain for Gam Miyan

Gam Rosu's priorities change when Yeowun uses medicine and hypnosis to question Hing Wunja. She asks to question him first and learns that the Brotherhood has always known where Miyan is being held: the Yongho Family has kept her for a year, and the Brotherhood deliberately concealed this until Gam Rosu completed its project. The revelation breaks her remaining trust in the organization. Overcome by rage, she nearly strangles the already dying Hing Wunja and has to be pulled away, an outburst for which she later apologizes because it cuts Yeowun's interrogation short. (Chapters 293–295)

Yeowun initially refuses to risk his people on a rescue outside their mission. Gam Rosu then offers the only payment she believes commensurate with Miyan's life: permanent service to Yeowun if he brings her granddaughter back. His acceptance binds the Godly Doctor to the Demonic Cult before she realizes that her rescuer is its new Lord. The agreement is therefore both a personal sacrifice and a political turning point—her medical skill will belong to a faction she once kept at a distance, while Yeowun assumes responsibility for her remaining family. The rescue ends in a truth Gam Rosu is never told. Gam Miyan, psychologically attached to the captors among whom she has lived and trying to protect her infant son, opposes Yeowun's party and is killed during the conflict. Yeowun's followers tell Gam Rosu that the Blue Sky Brotherhood murdered her, preserving Gam Rosu's loyalty and directing her grief toward their enemy. The infant gives her a reason to continue living, and she returns to the Demonic Cult beside Miyan's coffin with her great-grandson in her arms. Her service thus begins under a profound deception: she believes Yeowun avenged and rescued what remained of her family, while the people she serves know the fuller circumstances of Miyan's death. Cold Blood Blockage

Before returning to the cult, Gam Rosu is asked to treat Wang Yogun, whose congenital Cold Blood Blockage causes accumulated yin qi to overwhelm her circulation and turn her violent. Gam Rosu recognizes the condition immediately because she lost a patient to it thirty years earlier. In that first case she recruited the powerful yang-energy user Monk Gu Hur to force open nine blocked points, but the patient's veins ruptured when the yin and yang energies resisted one another. Rather than dismissing that death as unavoidable, Gam Rosu continued studying the failure until she understood that direct opposition made the treatment itself lethal. (Chapters 320–321)

Yogun's crisis tests the difference between medical knowledge and martial power. Gam Rosu can diagnose the blockage, explain why Gam Miyan's yang-replenishing medicine only prolonged Yogun's life, and use needles to preserve warmth for a short time, but she cannot personally supply or control the necessary internal energy. She therefore designs a treatment around a powerful yang-energy practitioner and warns that the transfer must begin at the origin of the yin eruption so the two energies can balance instead of colliding. Yeowun ultimately absorbs and controls the excess yin qi, while Gam Rosu monitors Yogun afterward and confirms that the blockage has subsided. The cure vindicates decades of study, but it depends on abilities outside Gam Rosu's own body and on an invasive method the participants accept only because Yogun is dying. (Chapters 320–330)

Physician of the Demonic Cult

Gam Rosu fulfills her bargain by returning to the Ten Thousand Mountains. From Yeowun's scan-derived description of Chun Yujong's abnormalities, she identifies likely damage around the heart and specifies herbs needed for treatment. Her work beside Demon Doctor Baek Jongwu also demonstrates the physical discipline behind her practice: prolonged needling procedures exhaust even trained physicians, while Gam Rosu's unusually muscular body helps her sustain the labor. (Chapters 336–347)

Her later research shifts from treating one patient to making dangerous supernatural material usable. Gam Rosu and Baek Jongwu analyze Qilin's Blood and begin converting it into a stable elixir. Yeowun supplies ingredient information obtained through Nano, shortening the experimental process, but the physicians remain responsible for analyzing the substance and carrying out the stabilization. At her latest appearance, Gam Rosu is therefore not merely a doctor retained for emergencies; she is part of the cult's medical-research capacity, applying her accumulated knowledge to materials ordinary medicine could not safely administer. Appearance and personality

Gam Rosu is an elderly, heavily muscled woman whose weight surprises the martial artist carrying her. Members of her family deliberately train their bodies because treating and moving patients can demand sustained physical strength. She insists that respectful companions call her “Granny Gam,” while she calls Yeowun her rescuer.

Her professional identity combines compassion, pride, and persistence. She treats even the mutilated Hing Wunja long enough for questioning and regards an unexplained medical failure as a reason for further study, not an excuse. Her devotion to family is equally powerful but less controlled: fear for Miyan allows the Blue Sky Brotherhood to manipulate her, and the truth of that manipulation drives her into a violent rage. She can bargain pragmatically when an emotional appeal fails, yet her willingness to pledge lifelong service shows how completely family overrides her former independence. Clinical diagnosis and treatment

Gam Rosu's title rests on accumulated clinical experience rather than a supernatural healing power. She recognizes rare conditions from physical signs, reconstructs likely internal damage from a sufficiently precise description, stabilizes badly wounded patients, and knows when blood loss has crossed the point at which treatment without transfusion can only delay death. Her handling of Cold Blood Blockage is the clearest example of her method: she identifies the accumulated yin qi, distinguishes temporary yang supplementation from a cure, studies a previous fatal procedure, and revises the treatment around the body's reaction rather than simply applying greater force. Her principal limitation is that she is not established as an internal-energy master. Treatments that require powerful qi must be executed by a suitable martial artist under her direction, and the first attempt at opening Cold Blood Blockage failed because neither she nor her helper understood how the energies would interact inside the patient. Even in the successful case, her needles can only buy time; Yeowun supplies the yang energy, survives the patient's resistance, and controls the transferred yin qi. Gam Rosu's expertise determines what must be done, but it does not remove the danger or replace the required power. (Chapters 320–330)

Acupuncture, surgery, and physical discipline

Gam Rosu uses needles both as a sustained treatment and as an emergency means of regulating a patient's condition. The work can continue for hours and demands enough stamina that Baek Jongwu, despite having some internal-energy training, recognizes his own physical preparation as inadequate by comparison. Her unusually muscular build is functional rather than cosmetic: her family trains its body to support the manual demands of medical practice. The corpus does not name a discrete supernatural acupuncture technique, so her needling should be understood as demonstrated medical craft, not an inferred combat art. (Chapters 303, 324–347)

Pharmacology and experimental medicine

Gam Rosu maintains an extensive herb supply and understands both ordinary and extraordinary compounds. Dry opium poppy is stored as a painkiller; her inherited research supports the Extreme Martial Body project; and her knowledge lets her identify what Yeowun is preparing when he requests ingredients for an interrogation drug. These examples show practical pharmacology, but they also expose an ethical vulnerability: the Blue Sky Brotherhood turns her body-enhancement research toward the production of powerful warriors while holding Miyan's fate over her. Within the Demonic Cult, Gam Rosu works with Baek Jongwu to analyze Qilin's Blood and convert it into a stable elixir. Nano-derived ingredient data accelerates the process, so the formula is not hers alone, and the supplied chapters do not yet demonstrate the finished elixir's effects. Her established contribution is the medical analysis and stabilization process—the bridge between a dangerous spirit-beast substance and something intended for controlled administration. Anatomical research

Gam Rosu's damaged inherited manuscript contains anatomical material and underpins her effort to understand the body's physical limits. The book's provenance and complete contents remain unexplained, and its first half is missing, so the corpus does not establish a finished Extreme Martial Body procedure. What is demonstrated is a long-running research program: Gam Rosu studies detailed bodily structure, gathers rare medical knowledge, and tries to turn that knowledge into repeatable treatment or enhancement rather than relying on martial intuition.
