Ozacas Hunt

Ozacas Hunt is Blake's father, trainer, and a long-serving Altered Hunter who rises from three to five stars. His decision to abandon the Ruin City retreat and find Blake reveals the affection his severe training concealed, but Ylva mortally wounds and turns him into a permanently transformed werewolf. After her death, Ozacas regains enough self-control to live and fight beside his son as a member of the Howlers.

Biography

A Hunter father and demanding teacher

Ozacas runs the Hunt family's clinic and pharmacy while maintaining a hidden dojo, beast records, weapons, and armor beneath their home. He trains Blake through surprise attacks, weapon drills, physical conditioning, and constant vigilance, but withholds introduction to the wider Association until his son earns a star. That severity leaves Blake believing his father is ashamed of him even though Ozacas speaks of finishing his training and eventually bringing him to higher-tier work. As a three-star Hunter, Ozacas fights Billy during a full moon and investigates black-liquid users with a root-producing longsword. He later rises to four stars alongside Blake's first promotion, then becomes one of the Association's longest-serving five-star members and teaches selected younger hunters how to sense and guide Qi. Choosing Blake over the Ruin City mission

During the campaign against Lupus, Ozacas works beside Edvard and Donald until reports place Blake among the missing. Edvard orders the fathers to search, freeing Ozacas to act on the worry he has been suppressing. He fights through werewolves, finds Blake and Innu bound by energy-draining vines, breaks into Ylva's cabin, and coordinates with the two younger Hunters after freeing them. Ylva's speed, foresight, and Luna form defeat their combined attacks; she drives a claw through Ozacas's abdomen before the cabin collapses. His rescue gives Blake the proof of love he had wanted, but leaves Ozacas with only a trace of life when the others are forced to retreat. (Chapters 1219–1288)

Enslavement, pack transfer, and recovered agency

Ylva bites Ozacas while he is near death. Werewolf healing keeps him alive but cannot reverse the underlying damage: he becomes a seven-foot wolf permanently fused in beast form, unable to speak and prone to biting anyone near his mouth. Ylva controls him as the Iron-Masked Werewolf and orders him to fight Blake during the Slough invasion, weaponizing the father's familiar technique against his son. After Ylva dies, the unconscious Ozacas is transferred into the Howlers through Xin's Luna bond. Over the following months he becomes calmer and recovers understanding, communicates through gesture and writing, and chooses the iron muzzle himself to restrain his remaining bite reflex. He lives beneath the Hunt dojo with Blake, protects civilians from Gluttons, and later fights beside his son in the final convoy against Unzoku. (Chapters 1382, 1457–1516, 1783, and 1825)

Appearance and personality

As a human, Ozacas is an adult man first shown in the white robe he wears after clinic work. His precise physical features receive little description. After Ylva turns him, he is a roughly seven-foot, hulking werewolf with permanently matted fur and a custom iron muzzle or mask over his snout. The form initially appears mindless, but his eyes and preserved fighting technique allow Blake to recognize him. (Chapters 146, 1382, and 1457–1458)

Ozacas is disciplined, private, and demanding. His ambush-based teaching makes care difficult for Blake to read, yet in crisis he places his son's life above orders and reputation. Once control returns, he accepts a restricted hidden existence and asks for a muzzle to protect others, turning a device first associated with captivity into a voluntary safeguard. His later defense of strangers shows that transformation changes his body and communication without erasing the protective judgment that defined his Hunter career. Powers and abilities

Altered Hunter training and Qi

Before being turned, Ozacas is an ordinary human whose strength comes from lifelong Hunter training, Qi, and Anti-Altered equipment rather than an Altered procedure. He is an expert swordsman, ambush instructor, tracker, and close-range fighter who can kill lesser werewolves by driving a blade through a vital point. He teaches Blake vigilance from childhood and later guides Qi through another person's body so the student can recognize and activate the internal energy independently. The technique requires controlled contact and practice; it does not grant instant mastery, and Ozacas's human body remains vulnerable to a Luna whose speed and claws exceed his defenses. Hunter weapons and tactical coordination

Ozacas adapts to different swords and Hunter devices. One green-rooted blade creates bindings after being planted in the ground, restraining black-liquid users long enough for a finishing strike. In Ylva's cabin he breaks barriers, uses an electrical containment setup, and coordinates attack angles with Blake and Innu. Equipment narrows the physical gap but does not remove it: Ylva breaks or bypasses the weapons, walks through the electrical attack, and wounds him despite three-person coordination. The corpus does not establish one permanent personal weapon after his transformation. (Chapters 266 and 1275–1281)

Permanent werewolf physiology

Ylva's bite converts the last trace of Ozacas's life into werewolf regeneration, preserving him after an otherwise fatal abdominal wound. The result gives him much greater strength, speed, claws, durability, and healing than his human body, while retaining trained timing and technique. It also traps him permanently in wolf form, removes speech, and leaves an involuntary biting reflex. Early obedience is limited to Ylva and Lupus; after Ylva's death and Xin's pack transfer, he grows calmer and acts protectively, indicating that the control was not the same as total loss of identity. • Blake: Ozacas is Blake's father, first teacher, and original measure of worth. His rescue proves the love his emotional distance obscured; after forced transformation makes them opponents, father and son rebuild a shared life and return to battle as partners.
