Ko

Ko is the co-founder and leader of the Orbus faction, responsible for a shelter beset by beast attacks, disappearances, and later the Dalki war. He initially distrusts the Cursed faction and insults its methods, but the rescue of his marked family and people changes that relationship. Ko subsequently supports wider war decisions and turns the damaged Orbus base into a civilian refuge. (Chapters 1046–1066, 1072, 1102, and 1192–1215)

Biography

Distrust during the shelter investigation

Ko receives Quinn's group with open suspicion, accusing the Cursed faction of coercive tactics. Peter physically silences him, but Quinn prevents Ko from escalating the confrontation and proceeds with the agreed investigation. Ko's hostility is tied to pressure rather than simple vanity: people disappear whenever beasts attack, his own family is missing, and he fears that abandoning a gate will leave his personnel exposed. He supplies records and has guards memorise returnees so the group can trace the infection. (Chapters 1046–1057)

Ko and vice leader Ely discover the demon-tier source in the forest, but the marking takes control of them. Ko resists strongly enough to warn others away even while the corruption advances. After the beast is destroyed, he chooses his afflicted relatives and faction members over claiming its crystal for himself, passing the demi-god-tier crystal to Hayley while asking that the demon crystal be used to save them. The choice helps secure the marked people's survival and revises his view that the Cursed faction owes Orbus nothing. (Chapters 1058–1066)

Cooperation during the Dalki war

Ko later supports sending reinforcements to Owen against a four-spike Dalki, thanks Quinn for restoring his family, and works with the Cursed faction on the shelter's resources. When the Dalki attack Orbus directly, Ko orders preparations and keeps the faction base operating as a civilian safe centre. By Chapter 1215 he believes the survivors can manage without Quinn and permits the group to leave; his fate after the attack is not established. (Chapters 1072, 1100–1102, and 1192–1215)

Appearance and personality

The corpus does not provide a stable description of Ko's face, hair, build, clothing, or age. He is blunt, defensive of his authority, and initially quick to assume the worst of a rival faction. His concern for missing family members and exposed soldiers is genuine, however, and when forced to choose he prioritises their lives over a demon-tier resource. Ko can admit his earlier treatment was unfair and later cooperates without pretending the shelter escaped heavy losses. (Chapters 1046–1066, 1102, and 1215)

Powers and abilities

Unspecified combat ability

Ko is a faction leader capable of participating in shelter defence, but the supplied chapters never name or demonstrate a distinct personal ability with enough clarity to describe its mechanics. He carries equipment and reaches for something at his side after Peter releases him, yet Quinn stops the motion before the object or technique is identified. No ranged attack used against the moth beast is individually assigned to Ko. (Chapters 1046–1051)

Willpower and command

Ko's strongest demonstrated attributes are resistance and organisation. The demon-tier marking takes hold of him, but his struggle causes it to grow and recede, and he retains enough control to warn the others before collapsing. As leader, he tracks missing civilians, deploys guards, evaluates reinforcement priorities, prepares the shelter for Dalki attack, and maintains a safe centre after severe damage. These are evidenced competencies rather than a supernatural power set. (Chapters 1053–1066, 1072, and 1192–1215)

Relationships

  • Quinn: Ko begins by distrusting Quinn's faction, then sees Quinn choose to save the marked people. Gratitude replaces hostility, and Ko later coordinates resources and defence with him. (Chapters 1046–1066, 1102, and 1215)
  • Peter: Peter humiliates Ko during their first meeting by lifting him by the mouth. The act reinforces Ko's suspicion, though their groups later cooperate against the shelter's actual threat. (Chapters 1046–1047)
  • Owen: Ko argues that forces should reinforce Owen's fight against a four-spike Dalki because winning there would materially improve the wider war. (Chapter 1072)
