Hardy
Hardy Flynch is the cover identity Quinn uses while investigating and teaching at the reconstructed Earthborn academy. Hardy is not an independent character: every decision and power performed under the name belongs to Quinn, while the title allows him to observe the military without receiving the deference normally shown to the Cursed faction leader. (Chapters 953, 958, 998, 1014, and 1030)
Biography
Creating an unknown Head General
Sam assigns Quinn the name Hardy because Quinn's public status as a world leader would make officials conceal their ordinary conduct. Only Oscar and Owen are initially meant to know the truth. Presented as Hardy Flynch, Quinn becomes Head General of the second group and a beast-class teacher, while his students and rival officers assume he is merely a powerful but obscure Cursed faction member. The alias creates the access Quinn needs, although his extraordinary equipment and physical feats immediately make that obscurity suspicious. (Chapters 953, 956–962, and 965)
Teaching and protecting the academy students
Under the Hardy name, Quinn uses his position to teach practical beast-weapon skills and protect students targeted through the academy hierarchy. He confronts Erlen's father after abuse directed at Shiro, leaving the aggressors begging and giving Hardy's class confidence that their teacher will defend them. When Sil's power erupts during a later confrontation, Chucky's emergency call brings Hardy to the canteen, where Quinn's knowledge of Sil and strength let him contain a danger ordinary teachers cannot. (Chapters 960–968 and 989–1005)
Hardy's conduct also provokes institutional conflict. Innu and Aden resent his interference and try to explain his authority through money or faction connections, while students notice that no public record accounts for someone so powerful. Quinn continues using the cover during the hunting exercise and leaves the students' view when the operation requires him to act openly. The discrepancy between Hardy's supposed background and Quinn's recognisable abilities makes the alias progressively harder to sustain. (Chapters 974, 989–999, and 1009–1014)
Exposure of the cover
Hayley pieces together the evidence and learns that Head General Hardy is Quinn. This confirms what the article's earlier scenes imply: Hardy has no childhood, independent affiliation, or fate separate from Quinn. Chapter 1030 closes the cover operation's documented life; later developments belong to Quinn under his own identity. (Chapters 998, 1014, and 1030)
Appearance and personality
The corpus does not describe a separately transformed Hardy face. Sam relies on how much Quinn's natural appearance has changed since his academy years, and Quinn otherwise presents himself in a Head General's role with conspicuous red gauntlets. Hardy's apparent confidence, protectiveness, impatience with abusive authority, and skill as a teacher are therefore Quinn's traits expressed through the assignment, not the personality of another man. (Chapters 953, 960–968, and 991–998)
Powers and abilities
Hardy has no independent power system. His superhuman strength and speed, apparent mind control, shadow techniques, beast-weapon expertise, and red gauntlets all belong to Quinn. These abilities protect students and make the cover credible as a senior Cursed fighter, but their rarity also exposes it: observers cannot reconcile Hardy's feats with the absence of any record, and eventually recognise similarities to the Cursed faction leader. For the mechanics and later progression of those powers, see Quinn. (Chapters 960–968, 998, 1004–1014, and 1030)
Relationships
- Quinn: Hardy is Quinn himself operating under an assigned name; the two must not be treated as separate people. (Chapters 953 and 1030)
- Sam: Sam designs the cover so Quinn can investigate the academy without the behavioural distortions caused by his public status. (Chapter 953)
- Shiro: Shiro sees Hardy as the teacher who protects him from institutional retaliation, without initially knowing that the teacher is Quinn. (Chapters 960–968)
- Sil: Quinn's prior knowledge of Sil allows Hardy to respond to the academy crisis more effectively than the staff can. (Chapters 1003–1005)
