Gina
Gina is an Amra child known as one of her neighbourhood's two best football players. When Geo is beaten by Tower guards, she searches for Quinn and brings back the one outsider capable of stopping the attack. (Chapters 1726–1750)
Biography
Football and the defence of Geo
Gina has won the children's previous two football games and is kept on the opposite team from Solas because the pair are considered the strongest players. She strikes their roughly three-hundred-kilogram stone ball with enough force that the other children fear it could kill Quinn, and even adults normally avoid blocking her full shots. Quinn's effortless saves surprise her and give the children a direct demonstration that the small outsider is far stronger than he looks. (Chapters 1726–1727)
When Nock and the guards beat Geo while the neighbourhood watches helplessly, Gina decides that Quinn is the only possible source of help. She runs to Dober's home, correctly reasoning that Geo had taken Quinn there, and pleads with the outsider to intervene. On returning, she also tries to kick a loose ball at Nock to save Solas, but Quinn reaches it first and ends the immediate threat. Her decision brings decisive help to Geo even though Quinn's display frightens her enough that she cannot approach him for the hug she wants to give. (Chapters 1730–1733)
Days later, Gina and the other children have lost interest in playing because Geo has entered the Tower and has been declared Quinn's ally. Gina watches the guards questioning the community and tries to interpret their continued search hopefully, reasoning that it means Geo and Quinn remain alive inside. The corpus does not establish her life after this period or whether Geo returned to the neighbourhood. (Chapter 1750)
An adult vampire teacher also named Gina appears in Chapters 710 and 713. No relationship or continuity connects that strict instructor to the Amra child, so the two identities are kept separate. (Chapters 710, 713, and 1726)
Appearance and personality
Gina is an Amra child and therefore has the four-armed form and durable body associated with the people around her; the corpus does not individualise her hair, eyes, clothing, or exact age. She is confident and intensely competitive in football, but her strongest choices come from loyalty. Although afraid of both Nock's violence and Quinn's unfamiliar power, she searches for help, returns to the danger, and prepares to intervene herself when another child is threatened. (Chapters 1726–1733)
Powers and abilities
Amra physiology and football strength
Gina can run with, spin around defenders, and launch a stone ball weighing about three hundred kilograms at extreme speed. Adults fear blocking her shots, Geo can withstand them only for a limited time, and another child warns that a full strike might kill the apparently fragile Quinn. Her strength is demonstrated through the Amra sport rather than formal combat, and the corpus supplies no named ability, energy system, maximum lifting strength, or specialised technique. (Chapters 1726–1727)
Gina's attempted rescue shows that she can aim the same heavy ball as an improvised attack, but Quinn kicks it before she makes contact. The source therefore does not establish how her shot would affect Nock or a trained Tower guard. No later training or power progression is shown. (Chapter 1730)
Relationships
- Geo: Gina regards Geo as the neighbourhood's protector and praises his choice to remain with the community rather than seek status in the Tower. His beating motivates her to find Quinn, and his disappearance leaves her watching for evidence that he survives. (Chapters 1727 and 1730–1750)
- Quinn: Gina initially treats Quinn as a weak-looking disadvantage in football, then recognises his extraordinary strength. She summons him to save Geo and remains grateful despite being frightened by the scale of his power. (Chapters 1726–1733)
- Solas: Gina and Solas are the neighbourhood's leading football players and are normally separated for balance. She tries to save him when Nock threatens to destroy his legs, and later shares his anxiety about Geo. (Chapters 1726–1727, 1730, and 1750)
- Nock: Nock's attack on Geo and threat against Solas drive Gina to seek help and prepare a direct intervention. (Chapters 1730–1731)
