Sun Zhang

Sun Zhang is the Heavenly Treasure Pavilion agent who brings Li Fan's exile group onto Liuli Island under false disaster-victim identities and explains the first barriers to cultivation.

Biography

Registering on Liuli Island

Sun Zhang escorts the refugees through registration, quietly bribes Steward Zhao, and then completes staged contracts that bind the newcomers to the Heavenly Treasure Pavilion's transport arrangement. He explains housing, rations, the Pure Body Spirit Pool, the Cleansing Heart Mantra, and the lethal risk of becoming a miasma-extraction subject. Although he advises accepting mortal life, he later avoids Li Fan when Su Changyu's experiment makes the group dangerous to know. Li Fan draws him back through a profitable sea-expedition proposal, and Sun becomes the cautious intermediary between the apparent mortal and the Pavilion manager. (Chapters 23–28)

Appearance and personality

The corpus does not give Sun Zhang stable physical features. He is experienced in bribery, contracts, and the unspoken rules of island administration. His fear when describing miasma experiments and his effort to console Su Changyu show more humanity than his hard commercial language suggests, but self-protection and institutional interest remain his first priorities. (Chapters 23–28)

Abilities and cultivation

Island brokerage

Sun understands Liuli Island registration, welfare, fleet access, and the practical routes by which mortals may seek purification. He can negotiate with officials and arrange introductions, but no cultivation realm or supernatural technique is established for him. His authority comes from the Heavenly Treasure Pavilion and can disappear if that affiliation withdraws support. (Chapters 23–28)

Relationships

  • Yin Yuzhen is the Pavilion manager who evaluates the fleet proposal above Sun's authority.

Items

  • Registration payments and signed contracts pass through Sun in his institutional role; they are not confirmed personal treasures.
  • Great Yuyan Dragon Tea is served during negotiation and belongs to the Pavilion's hospitality stock.
