Gao Yuan
Gao Yuan is a seemingly ordinary Alliance gatekeeper whose detailed knowledge of people makes him indispensable during the reconstruction and staffing of Congyun Immortal City. (Chapters 183, 498–500)
Biography
White Jade Inquiry Platform
Gao Yuan first meets Li Fan after the White Jade Inquiry Platform, correctly inferring from Li Fan's survival that the newcomer has joined the Alliance and exchanging communication talismans with him. After surviving the destruction of Ten Thousand Immortals Island because he was away on business, Gao briefly considers defection but rejects it as unrealistic. Li Fan recruits him to identify useful officials from hundreds of portraits, discovering that years at the Administrative Hall have given Gao exceptional memory for identities, temperament, patronage, and political danger. Gao helps mobilize the rebuilding force, passes later personnel tests, advises He Zhenghao against acting too cleverly, and becomes one of Li Fan's trusted deputies for sensitive administrative work. His advancement rests on social judgment rather than a sudden combat inheritance. (Chapters 183, 498–500, 541–564)
Appearance and personality
No distinctive face, clothing, age, or physique is fixed in the supplied arc. Gao Yuan is cautious, flattering toward superiors, politically realistic, observant, and highly skilled at reading institutional relationships. His pleasure in temporary personnel power is balanced by enough discipline to recognize that overstepping Li Fan would be dangerous. (Chapters 499, 541, 549, 563)
Abilities and cultivation
The source does not support a named combat ability or complete formal realm for Gao Yuan. His demonstrated strengths are precise recognition of cultivators, memory for backgrounds and taboos, personnel evaluation, diplomacy, and procedural judgment acquired through long Administrative Hall service. (Chapters 499, 541, 549)
Relationships
Li Fan is Gao Yuan's superior and patron, elevating him from gatekeeper to decision-making aide while repeatedly testing loyalty and judgment. He Zhenghao is a fellow deputy whom Gao counsels and supports, though Gao remains the more politically guarded of the pair. (Chapters 499–500, 541–564)
Items
Gao Yuan owns no notable named artifact in the planned arc. The portrait lists, staffing papers, and city records he handles are Alliance administrative materials entrusted for work, not his private property. (Chapters 499, 541)
