Gan Jingda

Gan Jingda is the blue-haired second elder of the Severed Immortal Tower, a cautious Ark leader who ultimately gives his life to prolong its Equal Heaven ritual.

Biography

Upheaval in the Star Sea Begins

Gan Jingda hosts the Severed Immortal Tower assembly that identifies a new Star Sea upheaval and places the Ark on emergency war footing. He supports investigating an expedition to the Xuanhuang Realm, screens sensitive information, and later confronts the Watcher while arguing that immortal spiritual qi is worth extraordinary risk. During negotiations with Li Fan, Gan prefers cautious engagement long enough to extract every possible secret, even while agreeing that the outsider cannot be allowed to leave. When the Equal Heaven ritual needs lives to buy time, the aged elder volunteers first and extinguishes his own life aura, transferring vitality to the remaining participants. (Chapters 1287–1318; Chapters 1373–1374)

Appearance and personality

Gan Jingda is a blue-haired elder who later strokes his beard while joking with colleagues. He is grave and disciplined when presiding, willing to believe uncertain intelligence when dismissal could lose an irreplaceable opportunity, and proud of the Ark's survival. His final self-sacrifice turns that institutional loyalty into a literal transfer of his remaining life. (Chapters 1287–1318; Chapters 1373–1374)

Abilities and cultivation

True Immortal seal-script scholarship

Gan absorbs and evaluates seal characters, understands their strategic value against the Watcher, and hopes immortal spiritual qi could let him unleash their greater power. The Watcher's resistance and the risk of uncontrolled characters limit this approach; scholarship does not make him equal to a True Immortal. (Chapters 1287–1318)

Equal Heaven sacrifice

During the ritual, Gan can deliberately end his own life so its force appears within other participants, buying time for Star Sea power to enter them. The technique is irreversible and kills him immediately, making it a terminal contribution rather than a reusable enhancement. (Chapters 1373–1374)
