Yu Jian

Yu Jian is Nurse Yu's withdrawn son, a former vessel who spent longer with the Ghost Fetus than any of its other living candidates.

Biography

Narrative role

Yu Jian grows up without his father and struggles to understand affection, while his mother's guilt alternates between indulgence and harsh control. His cruelty toward other children and social isolation give the Ghost Fetus an opening to possess and use him. During secondary school he helps the entity arrange parts of the nine-child curse, but the sincere care of his class teacher shows him a different way to live and begins his resistance. (Chapters 1034–1038)

By the time Chen Ge finds him, Yu Jian is a skeletal, withdrawn young man who has shut himself inside a room filled with fragmented manuscripts. The Ghost Fetus's curses remain on him, but their bond has broken. Inside Yu Jian's door, Chen is placed into a version of the boy's history built from Chen's own warm memories, while Yu Jian and the Ghost Fetus force him to confront how love can be offered, distorted, or taken away. (Chapters 1035–1050)

After the Ghost Fetus's remnant is defeated, Yu Jian awakens, dresses, and writes a confession covering his own crimes and the acts committed through him. He decides to see the teacher who once protected him and then surrender to police. Walking out of his room with his schoolbag marks his first voluntary return to the outside world in years and his acceptance of responsibility without denying the manipulation that shaped him. Appearance and personality

Yu Jian is first seen as an emaciated, barefoot young man with muddy eyes, surrounded by papers and barely responsive to visitors. As a child he was intelligent, solitary, destructive, and desperate for someone who understood him. His teacher's kindness and later confrontation with Chen reveal that he can recognize beauty, resist the Ghost Fetus, and accept accountability. (Chapters 1034–1038, 1050–1051)

Skills and supernatural abilities

Yu Jian knows the Ghost Fetus's motives and methods unusually well because they shared a body for years. His memories can anchor a world behind a door, and residual curses cover him, but he demonstrates no stable personal spectral rank or independent supernatural technique after their bond breaks. (Chapters 1036, 1040–1051)

Relationships

Nurse Yu is Yu Jian's mother, whose love and denial both protect and fail him. His unnamed class teacher is the first adult to offer care without using him. Chen Ge enters his memory world and helps him choose responsibility, while the Ghost Fetus is the false friend who exploits his isolation and blood. (Chapters 1034–1051)

Yu Jian fills manuscripts with fragmented accounts of pain, then writes a separate confession and carries it in his schoolbag when he leaves to surrender. A mud statuette carved with his name contains part of the Ghost Fetus's curse; Chen takes it as payment and transfers its blood and curse into his shadow. (Chapters 1035–1036, 1051)
