Ol' Wong

Ol' Wong, whose full name is Wang Dajun, is an elderly security guard at Fang Hwa Apartments and a protective colleague of Gu Feiyu.

Biography

Narrative role

Ol' Wong meets Chen Ge while working security at Fang Hwa Apartments. Nearly sixty and familiar with the residents' fears, he describes the mysterious white shadow and watches over the younger guard Gu Feiyu with paternal concern. His account helps Chen understand that the apartment's disturbances are not merely rumor, even though Ol' Wong himself remains an ordinary living man. (Chapters 201–205)

During a later night shift, a Ghost Stories Society operative steals Ol' Wong's phone and impersonates him in messages designed to lure Gu Feiyu toward room 3239. Ol' Wong follows the trap and is found unconscious beneath a noose alongside Gu Feiyu. Both are taken to the hospital alive; the threatening messages sent from his phone are the attacker's actions, not evidence that Ol' Wong betrayed his colleague. (Chapters 271–279)

Appearance and personality

Ol' Wong is an older man approaching sixty. He is kind, observant, and protective of Gu Feiyu, and he takes the apartment's unusual dangers seriously without pretending to possess expertise he lacks. (Chapters 201–205, 271–279)

Skills and supernatural abilities

He has routine security experience, knowledge of Fang Hwa Apartments, and familiarity with its residents and night patrols. He demonstrates no supernatural ability. (Chapters 201–205)

Relationships

Gu Feiyu is Ol' Wong's younger colleague and the person he most clearly tries to protect. Chen Ge seeks information from him and later helps expose the society plot that endangered both guards. (Chapters 201–205, 271–279)

Items

Ol' Wong's mobile phone is stolen and used to impersonate him during the room 3239 trap. It is ordinary equipment, but its theft is essential to understanding why Gu Feiyu trusts the false messages. (Chapters 271–279)
