Huang Ling is Jia Ming's wife and the first person to seek help when impossible calls and changes in her husband's behavior make her question whether the man at home is truly him.

Biography

Doubting her husband's identity

Huang Ling initially tries to rationalize Jia Ming's abrupt changes, but impossible phone calls and increasingly threatening behavior force her to consider possession or replacement. She contacts Chen Ge, follows his precise instructions during the immediate danger, escapes the apartment, and gives the police a careful account. Her observations help connect Jia Ming's altered identity to Li Wan City and the shadow operating through him. (Chapters 488–515)

When investigators revisit the case, Huang Ling identifies inconsistencies between the husband she knew and the person acting in his body. The marriage that should have offered safety becomes the central source of her fear, but her decision to seek outside help prevents the possessing entity from controlling the entire narrative. Chen Ge and the police become protectors rather than affiliations she formally joins. (Chapters 590–595)

Appearance and personality

Huang Ling is a living adult woman who remains observant while badly frightened. She can follow detailed instructions under pressure and eventually trusts her own memory of Jia Ming enough to challenge the explanations being offered for his behavior. (Chapters 488–515, 590–595)
