Fan Chong

Fan Chong is a reclusive gamer whose persistent study of Xiao Bu's game gives Chen Ge a map of Li Wan City's tragedies.

Biography

Investigating the game

Fan Chong first appears as a nervous Haunted House visitor living with his elder brother, Fan Dade. A horror game found on his computer keeps drawing him back despite its brutality. Sympathy for its child protagonist, Xiao Bu, leads him to record branches, repeat deaths, compare locations with news reports, and share his findings with Chen Ge. His analysis turns an apparently fictional game into an investigative guide to Li Wan City. (Chapters 467–485, 501–526, 547–552, 622)

The shadow's interest in the game eventually brings the danger to Fan Chong's home and family. Trapped behind Li Wan City's door, he lets Chen Ge's group inside, recognizes the real Xiao Bu, and uses his accumulated knowledge while fleeing with the survivors. Meeting the girl transforms his distant concern into a lived responsibility, and he chooses to leave with Chen Ge rather than return immediately to an unsafe home. (Chapters 667–680)

Appearance and personality

Fan Chong is a very overweight young man with poor fitness. He is easily frightened and reluctant to act physically, but his curiosity, attention to patterns, and empathy for Xiao Bu keep him working long after a less invested player would have abandoned the game. (Chapters 467, 501–526, 667–680)

Skills and supernatural abilities

Fan Chong has no supernatural power. His strength is analytical play: he maps branching choices and save points, records repeated runs, identifies side quests, and connects game events to real cases. Fear and poor endurance limit him outside the computer, but the information he preserves becomes directly useful behind the door. (Chapters 501–526, 622, 667–680)

• Fan Dade: His protective elder brother and main source of practical support. Fan Dade's injury leaves Fan Chong worried about returning home. (Chapters 467–484, 515–526, 678–680)
