Biography

The Pen Spirit answer

Dou Menglu joins Wang Hailong and their friends during a visit intended to test the Haunted House's supernatural claims. Curious about her future with Wang Hailong, she asks the Pen Spirit whether she will become his wife. Instead of a reassuring written answer, she sees a hanging girl appear during the ritual. The vision shatters her playful confidence, leaves Wang Hailong incapacitated, and sends her fleeing through the scenario. (Chapters 132–139)

Appearance and personality

Dou Menglu is affectionate toward Wang Hailong and curious enough to ask the ritual a personal question. Her distress after the answer shows how quickly the group's bravado collapses once the game appears to know more than it should. (Chapters 132–139)
