Ah Qing

Ah Qing is a Coffin Village resident whose local knowledge makes him useful to outsiders investigating the isolated settlement. His help is constrained by fear of the village and by loyalties he cannot openly discard.

Guiding outsiders through Coffin Village

Ah Qing meets Chen Ge and Master Bai while they are searching Coffin Village for Fan Yu and Jiang Ling. Although visibly nervous about violating local expectations, he explains how the two children arrived, identifies dangerous customs, and helps the outsiders navigate the settlement. His cooperation never becomes open rebellion; it is a practical, cautious attempt to keep people alive while avoiding retaliation from neighbors and forces he understands better than his visitors do. Ah Qing is defined more by his anxious manner than by a detailed physical portrait. He is practical, cautious, and conscious of every village rule surrounding him.
