Jiang Ling

Jiang Ling is a child from Jiujiang Children's Home whose hidden connection to Coffin Village makes her both Fan Yu's companion and the group's guide behind the village door.

Biography

Returning to Coffin Village

Jiang Ling appears wary and vulnerable at the children's home, but discussion of Coffin Village reveals a stronger purpose: she wants to go home and confront the danger surrounding her family and village. She befriends Fan Yu, leaves with him, and guides Chen Ge's group through local customs, hostile Zhu women, and the blood-door world while Ghost Stories Society agents close in. (Chapters 282–313, 322–340)

Inside the village, Jiang Ling becomes composed, sharp-tongued, and authoritative rather than passive. She recognizes attached spirits, understands how the door is opened, and moves through blood fog more naturally than outsiders. Her guidance helps the children survive and contributes to the society losing agents, while the village later becomes an unlocked Haunted House scenario. These actions do not make her a member of the Ghost Stories Society. (Chapters 323–342)

Appearance and personality

Jiang Ling is a young girl who initially appears timid and guarded at the children's home. In Coffin Village she becomes confident, protective, and willing to threaten retaliation when mocked. Her local knowledge and direct speech reveal authority concealed by her earlier orphanage presentation. (Chapters 282–289, 323–340)

Skills and supernatural abilities

Her family and village connection gives her an unexplained affinity for Coffin Village's door. She can see spirits attached to people, understands the conditions around opening the door, and moves through its blood fog without the same impairment affecting outsiders. No formal spectral rank or independent combat victory is established. (Chapters 282–289, 323–340)
