Description

The Sword of Purging Devourer is an ancient bound weapon recovered as a sealed, three-foot one-handed sword with a purple glow. Its defining property is growth: breaking seals raises its tier and statistics, while each opened stage lets it destroy another weapon to absorb that weapon's special effect. Its first seal makes it a Level 90 Violet-Platinum sword; the second makes it a Level 120 Mythical weapon and, through a successful absorption outcome, changes it into a two-handed sword. History and custody

The mysterious hilt and first seal

Zhang Yang brings a Mysterious Sword Hilt, Ancient Magic Stone, and Millennial Heroic Soul to Margery. Her three-minute ritual consumes the two materials and turns the hilt into the Sword of Purging Devourer, which she gives to him as the reward for completing the quest. The sword binds to Zhang on acquisition, so its custody does not pass to another player in the supplied corpus. (Chapter 379)

The newly opened first seal immediately replaces Zhang's lower-level weapon and supplies a path for further improvement. He chooses the Dark Enigmatic Sword as its first sacrifice; the system verifies that the source weapon belongs to him, warns that it will be destroyed, and then transfers its repeat-attack effect into the Purging Devourer. The absorbed effect becomes the core of Zhang's mass-monster grinding and area-damage play for much of the middle game. (Chapters 380, 386, 397, and 408)

Second seal and two-handed form

Breaking the second seal requires Zinc Alloy, Dark Magical Fruit, and Light of Miracle from the Chaos Realm. Margery uses those materials to raise the sword from Violet-Platinum to Mythical tier. Zhang then sacrifices an Octagonal Stone Hammer carrying a ten-second stun effect; because the sacrificed weapon is two-handed, the absorption has a 20% chance to alter the sword's form. That chance succeeds, producing the two-handed version that Zhang continues to wield. (Chapters 380 and 548)

The upgraded sword remains a principal weapon through raids, PvP, and open-world grinding, but system balance and level progression reduce its advantage. Replicated attacks are later prevented from triggering further replications, limiting any attack to one copied follow-up, and the weapon's Mythical statistics eventually fall behind Level 180 Holy-tier drops. When Wei Yan Er yields a new two-handed weapon, Zhang takes it and acknowledges that the Purging Devourer cannot transfer its accumulated effects into the replacement; after more than two in-world years, he has outgrown the sealed sword. Abilities and mechanics

With the first seal open, the sword has 2,219–2,619 weapon attack, a 2.8-second interval, 864 DPS, two Level 3 sockets, and a ten-level reduction to its Level 90 requirement. Its absorbed Dark Enigmatic effect gives each successful attack instance a 2% chance to repeat the previous attack. Area skills interact especially strongly with that trigger because every enemy hit supplies another proc opportunity; Blast Wave against more than thirty targets once produces four consecutive copies before the chain ends. The effect still requires survivability and target density, so it is much less reliable against a small group or single target. (Chapters 379–380, 397, 408, and 559)

After the second seal and form change, the sword has 7,400–9,672 attack, a 3.8-second interval, 2,246 DPS, two Level 4 sockets, 20% increased damage, 5% critical rate, and a twenty-level reduction to its Level 120 requirement. Its repeat chance rises to 3%, and the absorbed hammer property adds a fixed chance to stun for ten seconds, with a reduced success rate against bosses. The absorption is destructive and restricted to a weapon Zhang owns; one absorption is available at each demonstrated seal stage, and the chosen source weapon disappears when the transfer succeeds. The replicated attack copies the attack that just occurred, including area skills such as Horizontal Sweep and Blast Wave. This creates exceptional crowd damage and can also pull additional enemies when copied aura blades strike them. It adds no Defense, however, and becomes valuable only if its wielder can survive the crowd long enough to generate procs. After the balance change, a replicated attack cannot recursively replicate itself, capping the result at two attack instances; later Holy-tier base attack is almost twice as high, making replacement more valuable than the sword's no-longer-transferable special package.   • Zhang Yang: The sword binds to Zhang when Margery gives it to him. His Guardian durability makes its crowd-proc mechanic practical, and he personally supplies every demonstrated sacrifice and seal quest before replacing it with a stronger two-handed weapon. (Chapters 379–380, 408, 548, and 732)
