Mother Charity is a senior Uldarian priestess secretly embedded on High Priest Tobias's council for the hidden church.

Biography

Steering the hunt for the Fool

Charity and Father Lee covertly steer Tobias's council toward pursuing Alex Roth. She uses a small miracle to locate Alric on a map, connects Alex's escape to the Traveller's cave, and turns clearing fog into an apparent divine sign. By taking opposite positions and communicating through hidden gestures, the two agents lead other councillors to make the arguments they need, causing Tobias to involve the king without exposing the hidden church's hand. Charity later meets Professor Jules at Luthering, insists that Alex is a fugitive and deserter, and threatens protective custody while soldiers wait nearby to seize him if he appears. Jules refuses, and the trap fails. (Chapters 665–672)

Charity remains part of the hidden effort through Rockmoot, again signalling secretly while church and royal forces move to unite the Heroes. After that operation also fails, Izas asks the First Apostle for permission to punish Charity and Lee. The response and Charity's later fate are not shown, so the request establishes jeopardy rather than a confirmed punishment or death. (Chapters 685–696)

Appearance and personality

Charity is an aged woman whose body retains surprising strength. She presents a gentle gaze, calm voice, and kindly professional manner, but Jules reads the softness as a mask, and the narrative confirms that Charity is an experienced manipulator. She is patient enough to guide a room indirectly and observant enough to extract information even from a failed negotiation. (Chapters 665–672)

Magic, abilities, and skills

Charity invokes Uldar to create a point of light on a map at Alric's location. The scene calls the effect a divine miracle but does not explain its range or whether it can locate arbitrary targets. Her more extensively demonstrated abilities are covert hand-sign communication, staged argument, reading reactions, and political pressure. (Chapters 665–672)
