General Yan Ze

General Yan Ze is the cautious highest commander of the demons occupying the Xia Clan's five northern provinces. General Yan Ze and Demon General Yan Ze are consistently one figure, and the intact early evidence distinguishes his hidden true body from the demonic avatar destroyed in battle. (Chapters 184–203)

Biography

Transcendence and the Xia Clan

Wu Yun Huo approaches Yan Ze after Dong Bo Xue Ying discovers the Devil's Well, arguing that Xue Ying will become an existential threat to the demon occupation. Yan Ze rejects a request framed as unpaid help, but accepts the strategic logic and orders his forces to search for the young Transcendent. (Chapter 184)

He scouts Snowrock Castle through a demonic avatar, identifies its killing, trapping, and maze arrays, and abandons a direct assault as too risky. This caution governs a longer hunt in which he sends elite subordinates and repeatedly tests uncertain sightings rather than reveal his true body. (Chapters 187 and 191–197)

Yan Ze finally commits an avatar when he judges there is a thirty-to-forty percent chance of finding Xue Ying. A Xia Clan Deity warrior, Chi Qiu Bai, and Chao Qing trap and destroy it. The resulting soul injury makes Yan Ze conclude that killing Xue Ying is no longer worth the immediate cost, so he turns back to strengthening himself through harvested human souls. (Chapters 201–203)

Appearance and personality

Yan Ze is a thin, small demon covered in purple scales and bearing purple horns. Among the five Demon Generals he is considered the calmest and most calculating: he uses scouts, probabilities, and retreat rather than pride, although his plan to exploit human souls makes that restraint purely strategic. (Chapters 184, 187, and 201–203)

Abilities and cultivation

He is a Demigod-realm demon whose avatar can penetrate the void, teleport, probe matter and arrays, and form demonic claws into particle streams. Even the avatar contests elite Xia Clan Demigods; estimates place his true body near Mountain Lord He's Deity-weapon combat power. Destroying the avatar tears away part of his soul but does not kill him. (Chapters 187 and 201–203)
