Lato Guiaro

Lato Guiaro is the true identity of Ultraman, an April Fool key member who infiltrated Port Santa's Sea Prayer ritual as Simon Guiaro and sought the authority of the Governor of the Sea. (Chapters 1991–1994 and 2011–2012)

Biography

Cordu, Trier, and the Approaching Apocalypse

After being captured, Lato reluctantly disclosed the Sea Prayer's function and the Governor of the Sea's marriage-like bond with the waters. His unusual pronunciation supplied a further clue to the hidden spaceship, while his later presence aboard the betrothal ship exposed that he had impersonated Simon Guiaro and betrayed the Sea Prayer tradition. (Chapters 1991–1997 and 2008–2011)

Lato seized the temporary Governor's authority, suppressed Juan Oro's control of the sea, and helped Mad Lady open the spaceship. Juan's self-sacrifice made the sea resist Lato, and the collapsing ritual left him fighting Lumian Lee without complete protection. Lumian ultimately killed him inside the spaceship, which absorbed his body, boon, and Priest of Light characteristic. (Chapters 2011–2018)

Appearance and personality

Under his Simon Guiaro disguise, Lato could pass as a member of the local Guiaro family. His controlled, weighty speech concealed arrogance: he dismissed the Sea Prayer community as fools, trusted intellect and strength over sacrifice, and became openly furious when allies or circumstances endangered his plan. Pathways and abilities

Lato possessed the Sequence 5 Priest of Light powers of the Sun pathway and a Tidal Scholar-equivalent sea boon. He could release purifying sunlight, alter his body's condition, manipulate water, increase heaviness, suppress other sea powers as Governor, and use the spaceship's strange language; these advantages weakened when his temporary authority became incomplete, and he was not a true demigod. (Chapters 2011–2016)

Relationships

Mad Lady was Lato's unstable collaborator in opening the spaceship, while Juan Oro regarded him as a traitor to the Sea Prayer. Lumian Lee, Hela, Mr. K, and their allies opposed his plan and ended his attempt to retain the Governor's authority. (Chapters 2008 and 2011–2018)
