Elros

Elros Einhorn is Poufer Sauron's cousin, the daughter of a Sauron woman and a member of Feysac's Einhorn royal family. Her reserved social persona conceals a Hunter pursuing the origin and possible end of the Sauron bloodline's curse.

Biography

Cordu, Trier, and the Approaching Apocalypse

Elros attends Poufer's salons and King's Pie game as a polite, obedient young relative, but Lumian notices that the frenzy affecting other guests leaves her unusually composed. During a later descent into Red Swan Castle's underground maze, she reveals her Einhorn surname and explains that war killed her father, after which her mother brought her to Trier; the deaths of her grandfather and mother left her living with the Sauron side of the family. She chooses the expedition because the danger touches both halves of her lineage. (Chapters 1800–1804, 1856–1857)

In the maze, Elros cooperates with Lumian and Albus Medici, prepares an ambush against the giant spider, and uses fire rather than retreating from the family secret. She eventually admits that she is a Hunter investigating whether the underground forbidden area is the source of the curse in her blood. After escaping, she resumes her reserved social role, keeping both Poufer and the other salon guests from learning how much she knows. (Chapters 1858–1864)

Elros later returns in hunting clothes, cuts her finger, and summons Snarner Einhorn through a blood rite after Poufer opens the bronze coffin. She accepts the Einhorn family's attempt to recover what it lost in the war while expressing the hope that the Sauron curse will end regardless of the operation's victor. Stationed outside the underground palace during the final clash, she survives the devastating sunlight that tears through Red Swan Castle. (Chapters 1904, 1923)

Appearance and personality

Elros is a youthful, chubby-faced woman who can present a faint, polite smile and an obedient manner around Poufer. On operations she wears a beige hunting suit with her hair in a ponytail. Beneath the social restraint she is composed, observant, manner-conscious, and willing to conceal plans until cooperation requires disclosure. (Chapters 1856–1857, 1864, 1904)

Pathways and abilities

Elros is a Hunter-pathway Beyonder, though her exact Sequence is not stated. She creates crimson fireballs, a nearly white-hot spear, and agile Fire Ravens, and she prepares ambushes with the tactical instincts of a Hunter. Her mixed Sauron-Einhorn blood grants unusual resistance to the underground curse but also makes that same curse a personal threat. (Chapters 1859, 1863–1864)

Relationships

Poufer Sauron is Elros's cousin and public host, though she hides her true objective from him. Lumian and Albus are temporary partners and rivals in the maze.
