The emperor's concealed allegiance

During the attempt to rescue Liu Yang, Zhang Xuan's allies discover that Chu is a soul oracle serving a remnant of Vicious. Chu has offered his soul through a contract that binds his life to that master. Liu Yang attacks him in rage, and the incident is initially reported as an assassination by Zhang Xuan's faction; the decisive cause of death is the contract, which kills Chu when the linked Vicious remnant dies. His fall creates a royal succession gap and intensifies the Master Teacher Pavilion's dispute with Zhang Xuan before the hidden evidence is accepted. (Chapters 1,226–1,246)

Appearance and personality

Chu presents the formal authority of an emperor while concealing both soul-oracle methods and loyalty to Vicious. His tolerance of King Zhongqing's elimination of political opponents and his own secret contract show a ruler willing to place personal power above transparent governance. Abilities and cultivation

Chu's exact cultivation is not established in detail, but he has royal resources and soul-oracle capabilities sufficient to conceal his nature within the palace. The soul contract binds contractor and master so completely that the master's death causes Chu's death as well. It grants allegiance and connection, not independent immortality, and becomes the fatal limit of his chosen arrangement. (Chapters 1,230–1,239)
