Vicious
Vicious is an ancient sovereign of the Otherworldly Demonic Tribe, the grandfather of Sovereign Chen Yong, and the most dangerous long-term subordinate acquired by Zhang Xuan. Once an enemy who fought Kong shi throughout the ancient war, he survives dismemberment through Blood Reincarnation: separated body parts awaken as competing consciousnesses, each claiming to be the true Vicious. Zhang Xuan subdues the consciousness born from Vicious's heart, helps it consume the others, and binds the restored being with both a golden page and a soul contract. (Chapters 679–681, 886–887, and 1,225–1,232)
For much of the story, Vicious is a knowledgeable and effective servant who saves Zhang Xuan repeatedly, deciphers Otherworldly Demon methods, and rebuilds his lost body. His submission never removes the pride and resentment of a former ruler, however. In the Firmament he secretly masters the malignant energy that once weakened his people, breaks both restraints, and attempts to destroy and rebuild the world that abandoned them. His final transformation makes him stronger than the combined God Monarchs before Zhang Xuan transcends their realm and destroys him. (Chapters 1,778–1,839, 2,188, and 2,263–2,264)
Biography
Ancient sovereign and fragmented survivor
Vicious originates among the Spirit Tribe, the people later known on the Master Teacher Continent as Otherworldly Demons. In his final account, their ancestors were Gods of Spirit Origin Royal City who were cast into chaotic space when a hand tore the Firmament apart; the different flow of time between worlds turns that Firmament catastrophe into the ancient history of the lower realm. Vicious rises as one of the tribe's strongest leaders, conquers much of the Master Teacher Continent, and becomes famous as an Immortal's Envoy after reaching Dimension Shatterer realm. His Zhenqi of Slaughter, bloodline, and soul arts make him both a political sovereign and a direct counterweight to mankind's emerging master teachers. (Chapters 681, 947, 1,911, and 2,263)
Kong shi's rise turns Vicious into the World Teacher's greatest recorded enemy. The two clash repeatedly until a final battle lasting days ends with Vicious's flesh and bones torn apart and his soul dissipated. Early fragments remember this as defeat; at the end, Vicious claims that he willingly allowed Kong shi to kill him so he could abandon a cultivation system incompatible with malignant energy and begin again. The text presents that explanation through Vicious himself and does not independently verify it, but his preparations for death are clear: a reserved drop of blood and surviving body parts retain the potential to regenerate. (Chapters 679–681 and 2,263)
The reserved blood develops into a beating heart over many millennia, protected by Otherworldly Demon soldiers who become Wu Yangzi's Saint-realm puppets. Other remains awaken independently. A finger phalanx in Cloudmist Ridge binds the Bluehorn Dragon Beast, uses the local saint beasts to capture master teachers, and restores itself by consuming their flesh and vitality. Because the original body is gone, each fragment's new consciousness regards itself as the authentic Vicious; reunion therefore requires one will to devour and erase the others. (Chapters 681, 886–887)
Captured heart and reluctant servant
Zhang Xuan encounters the heart beneath an ancient underground chamber. Vicious recognizes him as a Celestial Master Teacher, attempts to replace his heart and possess his body, and boasts that he will destroy Kong shi's heritage. Zhang Xuan tricks him into releasing control long enough to summon a golden page, then seals the living heart inside the resulting Book of Heaven's Path. The book leaves Vicious powerless: a being who once dominated a continent is reduced to a picture that can be knocked around with a finger and compelled to guide his captor out of the collapsing chamber. (Chapters 679–681)
Their first arrangement is coercive rather than loyal. Vicious commands the Saint-realm puppets, supplies ancient knowledge, and releases killing intent or power when Zhang Xuan needs an opponent suppressed. He can break the Byzantium Helios Beast's attack with a word and stun it with killing intent, but cannot leave the book or act independently. Zhang Xuan conceals him because possession of an Otherworldly Demon sovereign would compromise a master teacher's credibility, while Vicious looks for dignity and a path toward restoration within the limits of his prison. (Chapters 680–681, 716–718, and 749)
The confrontation with the finger changes the relationship. Zhang Xuan seals that fragment beside the heart, but chooses the heart-consciousness as the one he will support because it has already fought at his side. Vicious agrees to offer a fragment of his soul in exchange for the finger and future help finding the rest of his body. The soul offering makes Zhang Xuan his master and gives Zhang Xuan the power to kill him through the contract. Vicious then consumes the finger's consciousness, takes control of the physical phalanx, and provides the purified Bluehorn Dragon Beast soul to repair Zhang Xuan's own damaged soul. His service now combines compulsion, mutual benefit, and a growing record of practical aid. (Chapters 886–887 and 944)
Consuming rival wills and rebuilding a body
Vicious becomes a guide to the Otherworldly Demonic Tribe's language, runes, bloodline hierarchy, Zhenqi of Slaughter, altars, and soul cultivation. His finger can merge with Zhang Xuan's hand so its killing intent appears to come from him, allowing Zhang Xuan to infiltrate the Subterranean Gallery. He also consumes hostile Otherworldly Demon Primordial Spirits, extracting information while converting their energy into recovery. These acts help Zhang Xuan defeat threats to humanity, but Vicious's own motive remains reconstruction: every soul and fragment brings him closer to the power he once held. (Chapters 944–961 and 987–993)
The strongest rival consciousness initially belongs to Vicious's brain and eyes, housed in a three-kilometer head beneath the Marshlands of the Northern Meadows. This Vicious trains the Qingtian Emperor in soul arts while secretly planting a lethal will in his mind; Qingtian in turn seals his teacher and plans to steal his memories. After escaping, the head-consciousness tries to force Zhang Xuan's submission, threatens Liu Yang through Chu Tianxing, and seeks a Celestial Amulet of Legacy as the route to the Great Codex of Spring and Autumn and complete restoration. Zhang Xuan exploits the head's attempt to possess an enchanted island, confusing its will long enough for the tamed heart-consciousness to attack. The heart ultimately eradicates its rival and assimilates the head, though the struggle forces another period of hibernation. (Chapters 1,208 and 1,225–1,234)
Further remains expand both Vicious's body and Zhang Xuan's reliance on him. The upper body sealed in Sage Kui's sculpture is stolen by Otherworldly Demon experts, but Vicious senses it and helps Zhang Xuan track the thieves through the Harvest Valley City Seer Guild. He later receives skeletal arms from Sovereign Chen Yong, who reveals himself as Vicious's grandson, and assimilates an ancient straw garment that promotes the growth of flesh over the reconstructed skeleton. By the time Zhang Xuan returns to Tianxuan, Vicious has a complete body and power comparable to Dimension Shatterer realm primary stage. (Chapters 1,479, 1,623–1,629, 1,778–1,780, and 1,864)
Powerful ally on the battlefield
Vicious's restored strength becomes one of Zhang Xuan's decisive safeguards. His ancestral aura suppresses lesser Otherworldly Demons through bloodline, allowing Zhang Xuan and allied Ancient Sages to exploit openings. In Sovereign Chen Ling's palace, Vicious breaks spatial restraint, fights multiple Ancient Sages, and contests control of a refined droplet of dragon blood. Later, a deity from the Azure recognizes that Vicious's peak cultivation had reached Dimension Shatterer realm and perhaps exceeded the deity's own. Although Vicious's incomplete lower body caps his immediate strength and allows stronger formations or a true deity to restrain him, his intervention repeatedly prevents Zhang Xuan from being killed. (Chapters 1,778, 1,812, and 1,839)
Zhang Xuan responds with a degree of trust unusual for their origins. When the deity offers to spare the group in exchange for Vicious's skeleton, Zhang Xuan refuses, reasoning that Vicious has followed and saved him too long to be handed over. Vicious remains in the Book of Heaven's Path as Zhang Xuan advances toward the Azure because Zhang Xuan still considers leaving such a dangerous being in the lower world irresponsible. Their bond therefore contains real reciprocal protection, but it never becomes equality: Vicious is still called “Little Vicious,” carried as a sealed trump card, and ultimately subject to Zhang Xuan's command. (Chapters 1,839 and 1,913)
At the boundary of the Azure, Vicious explains that his Otherworldly Demon meridians and Zhenqi of Slaughter can accept the mercury-like spiritual energy that crushes ordinary human cultivators. His earlier success becomes part of the model Zhang Xuan uses to redesign the disciples' meridians. Vicious himself cannot progress beyond Dimension Shatterer primary stage while confined to the Master Teacher Continent; changing his fundamental constitution requires the natural energies of a higher world. (Chapters 1,911–1,913)
Escape, malignant energy, and final betrayal
Vicious travels through the Azure and into the Firmament inside the library. The higher environments suit his bloodline: his cultivation accelerates, and by the time he enters the Flooding Sea he has reached God King realm. He later reveals that the golden page formed on the Master Teacher Continent ceased to restrain him as early as Pseudo Immortal realm in the Azure. He remains inside voluntarily, concealing that freedom while Zhang Xuan continues to treat the book as a secure prison. (Chapters 2,188 and 2,263)
The abyss beneath Spirit Origin Royal City gives him the missing route to power. Vicious discovers that he can absorb the malignant energy which neutralizes Heaven's Path zhenqi, then uses the lawless Flooding Sea to escape unnoticed while Zhang Xuan hunts the Epitome Monarch Pill. He guides the pill to the Monarch Spirit Grass so its actions will destabilize the Flooding Sea, absorbs the malignant energy accumulated over fifty Firmament years, and uses that antithetical power to sever the soul contract. When he finally steps from the black hole, he is no longer merely a restored Dimension Shatterer or God King; the accumulated energy lets him overpower Zhang Xuan, his clone, Luo Ruoxin, and all nine God Monarchs. (Chapters 2,188 and 2,262–2,264)
Vicious frames the betrayal as vengeance against two systems that humiliated him. He resents Kong shi for his ancient defeat, Zhang Xuan for treating him as a servant and dog, and the God Monarchs for failing to rescue the Spirit Tribe after it was cast into chaotic space. He intends to destroy the Nine Skies and rebuild the corrupted Firmament from nothing. The plan also reveals the continuity beneath his years of service: he can cooperate, protect, and wait with extraordinary patience, but his deepest ambition remains absolute autonomy and supremacy. (Chapters 2,263–2,264)
Combined God Monarch attacks cannot stop him. Zhang Xuan finally uses the malignant energy that severs contracts to separate the Library of Heaven's Path from his own soul, survives through the blood in Luo Ruoxin's pendant, and transcends God Monarch realm by comprehending the sentiments of all beings. He identifies Vicious's resentment, humiliation, ambition, and destructive desire as sentiments within his new authority and binds him through them. Vicious attempts to renew his submission only after escape becomes impossible. Zhang Xuan refuses, destroys him, and disperses his accumulated energy back through the Firmament, ending the ancient sovereign's repeated cycle of death and rebirth. (Chapter 2,264)
Appearance and personality
Vicious first appears not as a complete person but as a living heart on a stone pedestal, surrounded by an aura and gigantic shadow powerful enough to immobilize Zhang Xuan. When the golden page seals him, the heart is depicted inside the book like a moving picture and can form a human face on its surface. Other awakened remains appear separately as a flesh-restored finger, a vast head integrated with an island, and a skeletal upper body. His changing anatomy is not cosmetic: every piece carries a portion of power and may develop its own will. (Chapters 679–681, 886–887, and 1,225–1,232)
After gathering the head, torso, and arms and assimilating the straw garment, Vicious reconstructs a complete humanoid body with flesh over its ancient skeleton. The narrative emphasizes the ancient and oppressive aura around him more than fixed features. In his final transformation, he emerges as a familiar human-shaped black silhouette from the Flooding Sea's black hole; matter in his path disintegrates into green light where malignant energy meets the power of the heavens. (Chapters 1,780, 1,864, and 2,263)
Pride is his most persistent trait. Every fragment remembers being an existence feared by 9-star master teachers and measures its humiliation against that former station. Early Vicious boasts, schemes, and tries possession even when severely weakened; once sealed, he alternates between indignant threats and meek compliance when Zhang Xuan can punish him. His willingness to offer a soul fragment is pragmatic rather than self-effacing: he accepts present submission as the only route to reunion with his body and future power. (Chapters 679–681 and 886–887)
He is patient, perceptive, and technically honest when cooperation serves him. Vicious recognizes Celestial Master Teachers, reads ancient runes and bloodlines, warns Zhang Xuan of danger, and fulfills many commands effectively. His fragment willingly gives useful soul energy after consuming the Bluehorn Dragon Beast, and his reconstructed body risks itself in fights that save Zhang Xuan. At the same time, his original rise and final plan are built on domination, consumption, and grievance. The servant persona does not erase his cruelty; it disciplines it until he believes himself strong enough to act without restraint. (Chapters 887, 947–961, 1,812–1,839, and 2,263–2,264)
Abilities and cultivation
Blood Reincarnation and fragment assimilation
Vicious reaches the Ancient Sage ability of Blood Reincarnation, allowing life and consciousness to return from a surviving droplet of blood or body part. Because his main soul is destroyed, the heart, finger, brain, eyes, torso, and other remains can awaken separately and develop mutually incompatible identities. A fragment can increase its strength by consuming living vitality, souls, or another Vicious consciousness; the victor retains the body part and some of its memories and power. (Chapters 681, 886–887, 1,225–1,232, and 1,524)
This immortality has strict limitations. Regeneration takes millennia without suitable resources, conflicts between wills force long periods of hibernation, and an incomplete body caps the strength he can express. Consciousness can also be wiped from a part before assimilation, as Luo Ruoxin does to the arms Sovereign Chen Yong transfers. Zhang Xuan's final attack destroys the controlling consciousness and disperses the accumulated energy, leaving no narrated fragment from which Vicious returns. (Chapters 887, 1,232, 1,780, 1,839, and 2,264)
Zhenqi of Slaughter and bloodline authority
Vicious cultivates the Zhenqi of Slaughter characteristic of the Spirit Tribe. It is a violent energy that projects killing intent, corrodes ordinary minds, and can interrupt attacks or stun weaker targets without physical contact. He can release it through a detached finger, merge that finger into Zhang Xuan's hand to disguise its source, and identify an Otherworldly Demon's status from the purity of the same energy. His own ancestral aura also suppresses later Otherworldly Demons through their bloodline hierarchy. (Chapters 716, 886, 947, and 1,778)
The energy is particularly compatible with dense spiritual energy from the Azure, and the Spirit Tribe's rational meridian network lets Vicious absorb power that crushes normal human meridians. On the Master Teacher Continent, however, the world's capacity limits even him to Dimension Shatterer primary stage. Zhenqi of Slaughter is also not inherently the malignant energy of the Firmament; the two are antithetical systems, and Vicious says he had to abandon his former cultivation and start anew before he could master the latter. (Chapters 1,911–1,912 and 2,263)
Soul arts, possession, and contracts
Vicious is a high-level soul practitioner with knowledge inherited by later soul oracles. He can immobilize consciousness, attempt possession, bind the Bluehorn Dragon Beast's soul, erase a defeated soul's will, conduct or assist Soul Searches, and devour Primordial Spirits for energy and information. The head-consciousness plants a sliver of will in the Qingtian Emperor that can destroy his soul if he betrays it, while both Vicious and his servants use soul contracts to enforce obedience. (Chapters 679, 887, 944, 987, 1,208, and 1,225–1,234)
These techniques can be countered by superior soul protection or power aligned with the heavens. The Library of Heaven's Path blocks his first possession and seals his heart; Zhang Xuan later confuses the head-consciousness through a spirit-enchanted island, creating an opening for the heart to consume it. The soul contract binding Vicious remains effective until his malignant energy becomes strong enough to neutralize a law that even God Monarchs normally cannot break. (Chapters 679–680, 1,231–1,232, and 2,263–2,264)
Ancient knowledge and combat power
Vicious remembers Otherworldly Demon runes, altars, bloodline ranks, cultivation methods, ancient history, and weaknesses in techniques that descend from his era. Even when his memories are incomplete, his former peak experience lets him identify flaws and select efficient counters while his visible cultivation is lower than an opponent's. He often functions as Zhang Xuan's interpreter and tactical adviser rather than merely a source of force. (Chapters 681, 947–961, and 1,337–1,352)
His reconstructed body reaches power comparable to Blood Reincarnation pinnacle and later Dimension Shatterer primary stage. Arms or hands projected from the Book of Heaven's Path can seal space, break Ancient Sage techniques, and fight multiple high-ranked opponents. Missing thighs and feet initially prevent him from expressing his former peak, and formations built by Sovereign Chen Ling can restrain him long enough to stop a direct advance. (Chapters 1,780, 1,812, 1,839, and 1,864)
Malignant-energy transformation
In the Firmament, Vicious learns to absorb the malignant energy left by the palm that tore apart the world. The energy neutralizes Heaven's Path zhenqi, corrodes artifacts and space, consumes ordinary attacks, and can cancel spiritual laws such as a soul contract. Vicious first cultivates it secretly in the Spirit Origin abyss, then completes the transformation in the Flooding Sea, an area beyond the Firmament's normal heavenly restraint. (Chapters 2,188 and 2,263–2,264)
After absorbing the Flooding Sea's accumulation, Vicious can expand a black hole, devour spiritual energy and attacks, rebound the combined power of multiple God Monarchs, and collapse the Nine Skies. Continued consumption makes him stronger, so delaying the fight favors him. His final power still does not transcend all principles: when Zhang Xuan reaches a realm governing the sentiments of living beings, the emotions driving Vicious's ambition and resentment become bonds that his raw malignant energy cannot break. (Chapters 2,263–2,264)

Relationships
- Zhang Xuan: Captor, master, beneficiary, and final killer. Zhang Xuan gives the heart-fragment a route to restore its body and refuses to surrender it even to a deity; Vicious saves him repeatedly in return. The relationship never resolves its foundational coercion, and Vicious ultimately interprets years of servitude as humiliation to avenge. (Chapters 679–681, 886–887, 1,839, and 2,263–2,264)
- Kong shi: Ancient nemesis whose rise ends Vicious's rule. Vicious measures later Celestial Master Teachers against him, understands many of his methods, and either loses or—according to his final claim—submits deliberately to the dismembering battle. His resentment toward Kong shi remains part of the sentiment Zhang Xuan uses to bind him. (Chapters 679–681, 1,911, and 2,263–2,264)
- Sovereign Chen Yong: Vicious's grandson and inheritor of his bloodline. Chen Yong can activate Vicious's skeletal arms, gives them and the flesh-restoring straw garment to Zhang Xuan, and treats the reconstruction of his grandfather as compatible with Luo Ruoxin's instructions. (Chapters 1,778–1,780)
- Qingtian Emperor: A disciple of the head-consciousness and a study in Vicious's distrustful teaching. Each schemes to control or replace the other: Vicious plants a lethal will in Qingtian, while Qingtian seals his teacher and seeks his memories. Their stalemate helps expose the separate Vicious fragments to Zhang Xuan. (Chapters 1,208 and 1,225–1,234)
- Luo Ruoxin: The Spirit God who removes consciousness from recovered arms and helps arrange their transfer. In the finale she identifies the malignant-energy threat and fights Vicious beside Zhang Xuan, while Vicious condemns the God Monarchs she represents for abandoning the displaced Spirit Tribe. (Chapters 1,780 and 2,263–2,264)
