Samar Melfion

Samar Melfion is Vernon Melfion's firstborn child, the inheritor of his business empire, and the eventual Chancellor of underground humanity. Her search for the truth about Vernon's death brings her into conflict with Aria Light and Nick, but she chooses the survival of humanity over personal revenge. Her scientific judgment and administrative leadership then make her one of the central builders of the hidden civilization. (Chapters 207, 709–933)

Biography

Inheriting the Melfion enterprise

Samar is already effectively Vernon's assistant when Wyntor Melfion proposes that she receive his inheritance. Vernon objects that she is an Extractor rather than a businesswoman, but Wyntor argues that her power can protect the fortune behind the enterprise. Their exchange places Samar at the junction of family, manufacturing, and personal advancement well before she appears directly, and later accounts identify her as the only one of Vernon's children who achieved comparable prominence. After Vernon's death, Samar takes over his business empire and becomes Kugelblitz's practical leader. She advances as a Specialist by consuming a Mid Elder, a risky achievement that Herman Reichert connects to her determination to investigate her father's fate. She repeatedly questions Aria, the only known lead, but receives no answer. Nick infers that family duty or pride may matter more than affection because Samar and Vernon had been cold and transactional; the corpus does not confirm that interpretation as Samar's own explanation. Choosing humanity over revenge

Aria nevertheless recommends Samar for the secret project because she is driven, intelligent, devoted to humanity, and already contributes scientific work in her spare time. Nick then admits that he killed both Vernon and Wyntor. Building and preserving underground humanity

Samar rapidly becomes the research base's unofficial leader because she learns at exceptional speed, gives frank useful criticism, and mediates between its teams. She later assumes formal leadership, calming the researchers and improving their cooperation. Under her administration they generate Pure Energy, miniaturize a Star Energy generator, and distribute the advanced knowledge Nick brings back. The role gradually expands from research coordination into government as the base becomes a city and Samar takes the title of Chancellor beside Aria's military command. The Chancellor's authority comes with constant pressure: one leak of forbidden knowledge could expose and destroy the isolated society, while Zephyx, research, advancement, and ordinary happiness all compete for limited resources. She advances from Hero to Protector, continues working toward humanity's liberation for centuries, and is later credited by Nick as indispensable to the city's survival and success. Near the end of her life, Samar chooses Giovanni as a successor because other Protectors trust his judgment. At about one hundred fifty years old, Samar is described as a blonde woman in a Kugelblitz uniform whose posture and expression project cold authority. She is already a Peak Specialist at that meeting. The identity and ability of the Mid Elder are not stated, nor does the corpus describe the precise breakthrough procedure, costs, or changes to her physiology beyond the ordinary longevity associated with high-ranked Extractors. Remotely detonated Zephyx shockwave
