Herman Reichert
Herman Reichert is the long-serving chief executive of Ghosty's Lab who later commands an elite division of Crimson City's guards. His institutional memory makes him a trusted guide when a disguised Nick returns as an Aegis Agent. (Chapters 212, 485, and 709–711)
Biography
From Manufacturer executive to city commander
Herman represents Ghosty's Lab in the city's Manufacturer politics and survives the destruction surrounding Kugelblitz's attack on Anatomy by retreating with Ghosty before the Heroes' battle tears through the building. After Ghosty's Lab is absorbed into the city and Ghosty leaves for Aegis, Herman transfers his experience to public service, eventually leading elite forces and then the fourth special division of the city guards. When Aegis sends a disguised Nick to inspect Crimson City, its Heroes choose Herman because he knows the city's leadership, history, and surroundings. Herman politely briefs the Agent, candidly assesses Samar Melfion's competence and emotionally driven search for her father's killer, and follows instructions to isolate the ruins beneath the city. His compliance enables Nick's secret work while Herman remains unaware of the visitor's identity. The corpus last presents Herman as an established Mid Specialist in city service and does not narrate a later promotion, retirement, or death. (Chapters 212, 485, and 709–729)
Appearance and personality
Herman is an older man when introduced and later appears middle-aged but healthy, the result of an Extractor's extended life. He is formal, polite, and institutionally minded, adapting from private executive to public commander without visible resentment. His discussion of Samar combines praise with concern, showing a willingness to give a powerful visitor a candid assessment rather than only flattering city leadership. (Chapters 212 and 709)
Abilities and Zephyx
Herman is a Mid Specialist by Nick's assessment. That rank establishes advanced physical ability, Barrier use, and Zephyx reserves, but the corpus does not show his synchronized ability or a representative combat technique. His clearest strengths are organizational: decades of knowledge about Crimson City's Manufacturers, senior figures, security forces, and surrounding region make him suitable to escort sensitive visitors and command a special guard division. (Chapters 709–711)
