The Politician

The Politician, personally named Mendez Silpheon, is an Aegis Shield responsible for global production planning and institutional strategy. After his predecessor dies, he succeeds to the title of Left Arm; this is a change of office, not evidence that every holder of that title is the same person. (Chapters 672, 810, and 827–830)

Biography

Strategist and battlefield coordinator

The Politician collects worldwide production data, identifies weak regions and promising settlements, and turns administrative knowledge into Zephyx for Aegis. During the Trio's assault, he applies the same disciplined coordination under direct fire: he suppresses Pestilence, orders Protectors to focus on Famine, and keeps fighting while War targets him, relying on the Bieronymus Hosch's defense to preserve the operation. The battle kills the old Left Arm, and Mendez later inherits her office, adding command responsibility to a role already built around resource allocation and strategic judgment. Ambition, Greed, and succession

As the new Left Arm, the Politician presents an orderly, brightly lit office and carefully protects the hierarchy around the Champion. The disguised Greed, acting as Zandur, has praised him for decades and nurtured fantasies of advancing through the False Prophet even though the human cost makes that route unacceptable. Exposure leaves Mendez furious at both Greed and himself, but he refuses to let anger decide policy: he helps assess containment and recommends using the surrendered Adversary to strengthen humanity. That choice eventually helps him become an Early Shield. In later years Nick's false reports destabilize Aegis's leadership, and Chapter 905 confirms that the Politician and the later Left Arm are dead and replaced. (Chapters 829–833, 846, 901–905)

Appearance and personality

Mendez is meticulously groomed and carries an evaluating, controlled gaze. He is ambitious and sensitive to rank, but his defining professional strength is emotional discipline: even after learning that Greed has manipulated his deepest weakness, he separates personal vengeance from the option that benefits humanity. Abilities and Zephyx

The Politician is a Shield-level Extractor whose combat ability can suppress an Adversary long enough for allies to attack, while his administrative work produces Zephyx through analysis of global systems. The precise mechanics of that strategic ability are not fully described. Working with contained Greed advances him to Early Shield.
