Greed
Greed is a Corruptor that avoids territory and acquires power through hidden influence over ambitious people. It infiltrates Aegis for decades as Zandur, the Juggernaut and prospective Right Arm, before Nick exposes it and converts its fear of Death into cooperation. (Chapters 625, 706, and 829–833)
Biography
A Corruptor without territory
Unlike the other Corruptors, Greed remains officially neutral and refuses a fixed domain because territory would make it easier for Adversaries to find and kill it. It still controls servants through superior information and concealed identity, and it helps Envy block communications and kill the Protectors guarding that Fallen. Nick gradually infers that Greed operates inside Aegis itself: instead of harvesting many ordinary Extractors, it feeds on the ambitions of Protectors, choosing quality, secrecy, and institutional access over visible conquest. (Chapters 625, 706, 732, 804, and 829)
Zandur exposed and contained
Greed has worn Zandur's identity so long that the Juggernaut's confident manner has become habitual, allowing it to inherit the Right Arm office according to the deceased holder's wishes. Nick injects Specter Zephyx into candidates and identifies the disguised Specter despite its ability to imitate a human Synchronizer. Greed first strikes him and considers escape, then admits its identity when Nick offers a path away from Death. The Politician, furious after realizing Zandur had cultivated his ambition for years, still advises containment over revenge. Greed accepts a suppressor, reveals seven other infiltrators, and strengthens Aegis's Shields in exchange for survival and a share of the harvest. (Chapters 830–833 and 846)
Appearance and personality
As Zandur, Greed appears as a tall, confident man with a casual smile and the physical bearing of the Juggernaut. No separate true-body portrait is supplied at the reveal. It is patient, evasive, and acquisitive, preferring praise, leverage, and long impersonation to open rule; when exposure becomes unavoidable, the same survival-minded pragmatism makes surrender more valuable than loyalty to Death. (Chapters 706 and 830–833)
Abilities and Zephyx
Greed can imitate a human so perfectly that Aegis's ordinary tests, Barriers, and observation accept a false Synchronizer and identity for decades. Its feeding works by stimulating ambition and the desire to amass resources, then drawing power from disappointment, bitterness, and hopelessness when those desires fail. As an Initial Adversary it can strengthen Shield-level Extractors through controlled work. Direct infusion with foreign Specter Zephyx exposes its canonical nature, while isolation, a Zephyx Suppressor, and its fear of Death keep it cooperative. (Chapters 804, 829, and 831–846)
