The Bleeding Lady

The Bleeding Lady is a Physical Specter that calms itself by cutting human workers and spreading their blood over its own wounds. Dark Dream acquires her after Cycle's defeat, inheriting both a productive containment procedure and a low-cost cutting ability used by several former Cycle Extractors. Biography

Inherited from Cycle

Cycle organizes work around the Bleeding Lady's compulsion rather than attempting ordinary conversation. After Dark Dream takes over, Kiara and Jonathan teach Nick the procedure: no more than two people enter, cleanse themselves, avoid exposed male genitalia, remain calm, and let her draw enough blood to become content. Jonathan conceals severe pain while guiding the session, because shouting or panic encourages further cutting and a hostile reaction can turn her controlled “good” wounds into lethal ones. The transferred knowledge keeps the Specter productive while preventing Cycle's fall from creating an immediate containment disaster. (Chapters 173–174)

A dangerous but readable worker

The Bleeding Lady produces Zephyx according to how much blood she draws in a daily session, while her preferred wounds stop bleeding and heal with unnatural speed. Dark Dream continues operating her because the danger has unusually clear warning signs; Nick later rates her only three out of ten among his company's Specters, noting that actual attacks are rare and anger is easy to recognize. That judgment does not make her harmless, but it explains why disciplined workers can manage a Late Hatchling whose repeated threat is literally that she will kill them. (Chapters 174–175 and 451)

Appearance and personality

She resembles a nude woman around eighteen to twenty years old, with long black hair, empty bleeding eye sockets, long nails, and cuts covering her body. Her room is red with blood because other colors agitate her. She repeats “I will kill you” and displays an obsessive need to cut, but can be placated by calm behavior and a sufficient session. (Chapters 173–174)

Abilities and Zephyx

The Bleeding Lady's nails create two observed classes of wound. Preferred cuts are extraordinarily painful and bleed heavily, yet clot and heal within minutes without weakening the worker proportionally; hostile “bad” cuts can kill. She smears collected blood into her own injuries and produces Zephyx from the exchange. Extractors working with her can receive an efficient ability that adds a cutting effect to weapons or body parts at very low Zephyx cost. Predictable agitation and emotional restraint are the main operational counters. (Chapters 159 and 173–175)
