Zong Wuya

Zong Wuya is a former Nine Seas God World Chosen who remains in the Windswept Realm because he believes the Mountain and Sea Realm is false. He opposes Meng Hao without personal hatred and turns their conflict into both a philosophical test and the transmission of his self-created fourth fist.

Biography

A vanished Nine Seas legend

A thousand years before Meng Hao's generation, Zong Wuya stands first on the Nine Seas God World's ninth golden gate stone stele. His body-cultivation achievement becomes legendary inside the sect, but Zong himself disappears from its public life. Meng Hao surpasses the old record and later discovers why its owner could not be found: Zong stayed behind in the Windswept Realm rather than returning to the Mountain and Sea Realm. (Chapters 1052 and 1082–1083)

Clone, revelation, and debate

Zong first confronts Meng Hao through a black-robed clone beneath the Third Nation. He demonstrates perfected versions of the Life-Extermination, Self-Immolation, and God-Slaying Fists and uses violet Daoist rings that dispel magical transformations. Meng Hao recognizes him from the shared body-cultivation lineage, survives the clone, and soon meets Zong's true body. (Chapters 1127–1130)

The true Zong does not attack immediately. He removes the other cultivators with a gentle wind, seals their conversation from listeners, and argues that the Windswept world exposes a greater reality outside the “fabricated” Mountain and Sea Dao. His voice carries power that destabilizes Meng Hao's reasoning, yet he gives Meng Hao time to choose rather than forcing conversion. He even delays the Third Nation's troops, showing that his loyalty is to the answer he seeks, not to the Emperor as a master. (Chapters 1130–1135)

Fighting for an answer

Once Meng Hao rejects his path, Zong intermittently blocks him to preserve the Windswept plan. He resists Meng Hao's fists at the peak of the Ancient Realm, but repeatedly holds back or withdraws when continued interference would turn their disagreement into pointless killing. The Emperor eventually demands one hundred breaths, forcing Zong into a decisive battle. (Chapters 1137–1144)

Zong matches Meng Hao with the three inherited fists, then unveils the Fist of Dao Searching, a fourth strike he invented from his willingness to die for an answer. Meng Hao cannot defeat the will inside the technique and instead collides with Zong directly in planetary form. The impact cracks Meng Hao's starstone and destroys Zong's right hand, yet Zong accepts the cost without regret. He then watches the Emperor's trap unfold and allows Meng Hao to free the chained Echelon cultivators. When the Windswept Realm departs, Zong looks up with anticipation, still uncertain whether the Outside will prove his belief true. (Chapters 1144–1150)

Appearance and personality

Zong's clone appears as a black-robed old man; his true body's defining quality is calm restraint rather than ornament. He is courteous enough to remove bystanders gently and addresses Meng Hao as a junior brother, but his serenity rests on an absolute obsession.

He neither craves Windswept wealth nor submits emotionally to its Emperor. What he fears is dying without an answer. That distinction makes him an ideological antagonist rather than a conventional traitor motivated by gain.

Abilities and cultivation

Three body-cultivation fists

Zong masters Life-Extermination, Self-Immolation, and God-Slaying. The sequence converts increasingly extreme will into bodily force: extermination of life, voluntary burning of self for bedevilment, and killing intent honed through real slaughter. At peak Ancient Realm power, his three steps and three blows are judged comparable to Meng Hao and strong enough to alarm the Echelon.

Fist of Dao Searching

His original fourth fist embodies a heart willing to be born in the morning and die in the evening if that brief life finds the Dao. Its force is therefore not merely cultivation output; it imposes the coherence of Zong's obsession upon the clash. Meng Hao concludes that he cannot defeat the fist's will and must attack the man behind it instead. The art has a severe cost: after one full collision, Zong's striking hand turns to ash.

Dao-dispelling violet rings

Violet fire forms rings that suppress or dispel Dao-based transformations, forcing Meng Hao out of golden-roc form. They are less effective against direct fleshly-body power, which can shatter them. This makes them a specialized counter, not universal negation.

Persuasive Dao discourse

Zong's speech carries a mesmerizing force capable of confusing judgment and shaking established convictions. It works through ideas as well as supernatural influence; Meng Hao can resist by reasserting his own Dao heart. Zong also blocks sound around a conversation and uses wind to relocate crowds without harming them.
