Sun Yunliang

Sun Yunliang is the Sun Soul Society elder responsible for its Demon-heart exchange pavilion in Seahold. His attempt to favor established merchants over an unknown seller places him at the center of Meng Hao's contest with the Seven Tycoons, after which he recognizes the commercial value of the collection and tries to secure it for his sect.

Biography

Southern Domain War and Dao Seeking

Sun Yunliang receives Meng Hao and Wei Li on the pavilion's second floor, but the arrival of the Seven Tycoons shifts his attention. He asks the unknown customers to move downstairs and quotes Meng Hao six hundred spirit stones per low-grade Demon heart, below the treatment expected by the prestigious merchants. When Meng Hao objects, Sun raises the offer to seven hundred but cannot prevent the competing demands over price and face from becoming a wager. (Chapters 666–667)

He provides a Nine Dragons Demon Heart Scale and explains that each dragon represents ten thousand low-grade hearts. As Meng Hao produces tens of thousands, Sun realizes that the supposedly minor customer is more important than the Seven Tycoons, but the warning comes too late to halt their contest. The scale eventually shatters under a collection whose apparent low-grade equivalent exceeds its expected capacity. Sun then appraises a brightly colored specimen as mid-grade, confirming why the ordinary measurement failed and destroying the merchants' hope of winning. (Chapters 667–669)

After Meng Hao collects the Tycoons' forfeited stock, Sun urgently offers a satisfactory sect price. He sees that arranging the transaction could earn immense merit, recognition from Saint Sun Soul, and perhaps help him reach Spirit Severing. Yet calculation reveals that even the Sun Soul Society may lack enough liquid resources. Meng Hao leaves him to assemble the spirit stones while meeting Saint Sun Soul, and Sun immediately reports the size of the collection upward. (Chapter 670)

Appearance and personality

Sun Yunliang is an elder whose appearance receives little detail. He is status-conscious and initially too willing to discount an unknown customer, but he reads changing commercial risk earlier than Honor Guard Zhou. Once the scale of the opportunity becomes clear, embarrassment gives way to energetic pragmatism.

Sun can distinguish low- and mid-grade Demon hearts by spiritual energy, color, and size, and understands their market behavior. A mid-grade heart is not merely a better specimen; its value is high enough that treating a bag as low-grade equivalents overwhelms the assumptions built into the Nine Dragons scale.

He produces and explains a stone slab carved with nine dragons, each representing ten thousand low-grade hearts. The dragons illuminate and change color as higher totals are added. The device supports transparent comparison, but it has a finite capacity and is unsuitable when the grade-adjusted quantity reaches Meng Hao's extreme total.

Exchange authority and limits

As the pavilion elder, Sun can set offers, assign staff, and negotiate for the Society. He cannot commit resources the organization does not possess: after estimating the cost of Meng Hao's stock, he must seek broader support. His authority is commercial rather than martial, and the text places his cultivation below Spirit Severing at this point.
