Saint Sun Soul
Saint Sun Soul, whose personal name is Lin Tao, is the principled but shrewd Sun Soul Society Saint stationed at Seahold when Meng Hao enters the Milky Way Sea.
Biography
A contest without a killing blow
Saint Sun Soul intercepts Meng Hao after the latter’s destruction of Sea Demons, declares his symbol spirits property of the Three Sects, and demands the Demon hearts. His authority and Second Severing power make the ultimatum credible, but Meng Hao’s Time treasure and sword tip force an invisible Divine Will contest. Both recognize the stalemate: Meng Hao cannot defeat him, while the Saint cannot kill Meng Hao safely. (Chapters 657–658)
Sun Soul reveals that he has sworn never again to kill cultivators and reserves his swords for Outsiders. He permits Meng Hao to stay while warning that the Society’s Dao Seeking ancestral treasure will answer any connection to the Sea Devils. When Meng Hao offers hometown alcohol, Sun Soul returns the seized symbol spirits. The exchange begins as coercion but ends with mutual recognition of boundaries and principles. (Chapter 658)
Seahold negotiation and Demon hearts
After recognizing Meng Hao’s altered appearance, Sun Soul quietly stops the other sects from mobilizing against him and orders an apprentice to invite him with exceptional courtesy. He drinks an agonizingly potent cup of Meng Hao’s alcohol rather than lose face, then turns the shared drink into a private arrangement that conceals Meng Hao’s presence. His solemn bearing hides a willingness to swindle and bargain when doing so avoids a destructive conflict. (Chapters 660–672)
Sun Soul accompanies Meng Hao into the Third Ring to harvest Sea Demons. Watching the Lotus Sword Formation makes him revise his estimate of Meng Hao’s strength, and he contributes one hundred thousand magical symbols as ten beasts. Their negotiated split is profitable for both sides. When Meng Hao later crushes the agreement jade slip under pressure, Sun Soul accepts the signal with a smile, judging that he has gained a friend and avoided making an enemy. He is still perceptive enough in Chapter 677 to identify Meng Hao’s distant Spirit Severing. (Chapters 673–677)
Appearance and personality
Lin Tao is a middle-aged man who favors red robes, though he also wears black while cultivating with Madam Lin. He is proud, solemn, and initially supercilious, but his oath gives that pride a moral boundary. He is observant enough to reassess dangerous people, politically practical enough to block reckless allies, and mischievous enough to make Meng Hao call him a swindler.
Abilities and cultivation
Second Severing cultivation and Divine Will
Saint Sun Soul is at the Second Severing and can project a pressure that dominates Seahold. His Divine Will meets Meng Hao’s around the Time sword tip without an outward exchange, creating an invisible contest in which both understand that escalation is too costly. The stage gives him a clear advantage in raw cultivation, but Meng Hao’s unusual connection to the sea and Time power prevent a secure kill. (Chapters 657–658)
Three Sky-Sun Bone swords
His three swords are forged from a rare Sky-Sun Bone, borrow stellar power, and refine it into persistent strength. In an earlier Demon Tide he uses them alone to defend Seahold, sending sword qi as far as the Second Ring and forcing the hordes back. Against Meng Hao, the swords halt seven inches away when confronted by the Spring and Autumn Tree sword tip’s Time aura, showing caution against attacks that wither longevity. (Chapters 657–658)
Magical symbol command
Sun Soul can seize control of symbol spirits associated with the Three Sects and release more than one hundred thousand at once. Ten thousand may be detonated to tear through Time power; in the Demon-heart hunt, one hundred thousand symbols combine into ten enormous beasts that slaughter Sea Demons. Symbols are numerous and adaptable but expendable, and ownership authority does not make them immune to Meng Hao’s countermeasures. (Chapters 657 and 673)
Political judgment and negotiation
He blocks the Three Sects from reaching a unified decision to pursue Meng Hao, arranges private lodging, uses intermediaries, and negotiates a percentage of Demon-heart proceeds instead of gambling Seahold in a fight. These choices are not cultivation techniques, but they repeatedly produce results that direct force cannot: safety for the city, profit for the Society, and a non-hostile relationship with Meng Hao. (Chapters 669–675)
