Sun Hai

Sun Hai is a former Chosen of the Church of the Emperor Immortal who becomes Fang Yu's husband and, consequently, Meng Hao's frequently nervous brother-in-law.

Biography

Chosen captured on South Heaven

Sun Hai arrives at the Immortal Ancient Daoist Rite temple as a highly ranked Chosen of the Church of the Emperor Immortal. Dressed in a violet dragon-embroidered robe and crown, with cultivation beyond ordinary peak Dao Seeking, he expects to subdue Meng Hao and claim the bronze lamp's fortune. Meng Hao instead crushes him, drags him through the pursuit, and reduces the proud Church disciple to hurried flattery. Sun Hai adapts with comic speed, asking to be called “Li'l Hai” and surviving by making himself useful rather than insisting on a suicidal defense of status. (Chapters 820–825)

He later competes in the Three Great Daoist Societies' trial and returns to Planet East Victory with the generation's Chosen. At Brightmoon Lake, Meng Hao recognizes and intimidates him again, while Sun Hai's attention increasingly centers on Fang Yu. In the East Ascension Sun trial he reaches the heights attained by the upper tier of visiting Chosen, confirming that his humiliations do not make him weak; they occur because he repeatedly crosses someone far outside the normal scale of his generation. (Chapters 850, 861–872, 922–941)

Fang Yu

Sun Hai pursues Fang Yu with complete emotional transparency. What begins as infatuation becomes a genuine relationship accepted by the Fang family, and he eventually marries her. The marriage also makes him Meng Hao's brother-in-law, a title Sun Hai wears proudly even while remaining instinctively nervous around the man who once dragged and threatened him. He appears with Fang Yu during the crises surrounding Planet South Heaven and later joins the Mountain and Sea Realm's defense. (Chapters 1150, 1167–1168, 1182–1187, 1208, 1319–1376, 1378–1396)

War, survival, and family

Sun Hai survives the destruction of the Mountain and Sea Realm within the Mountain and Sea Butterfly. Allheaven later reproduces his likeness as a soul-projection in the false world near the Arcane Pocket Realm, using the familiar brother-in-law among those who insist Meng Hao's memories were only a dream. The projection is psychological bait and should not be confused with the real Sun Hai. (Chapters 1507, 1509–1510)

The real Sun Hai spends the following two millennia with Fang Yu. They have sons and a daughter, then grandchildren, forming one of the enduring families of the refugee civilization. Both react with overwhelming excitement when Meng Hao returns. When Sun Hai finally greets him among the victorious cultivators, age has not erased the old dynamic: he is delighted, proud of the kinship, and still visibly wary of attracting Meng Hao's attention in the wrong way. (Chapters 1526, 1544, 1553–1557)

Sun Hai lives into old age, takes part in the restored community, and eventually enters the reincarnation cycle with the other Mountain and Sea veterans. His long arc converts an apparently comic minor Chosen into a husband, father, grandfather, and survivor whose family helps carry the destroyed Realm's people into the future. (Chapters 1561, 1591, 1611–1612)

Appearance and personality

In youth Sun Hai wears a magnificent violet robe embroidered with dragons and a crown, visual markers of his Church status. After Meng Hao's rough treatment he is left disheveled and, in one comic sequence, bald enough for Meng Hao to threaten finding some other hair to grab.

Sun Hai is enthusiastic, adaptable, emotionally transparent, and sincerely devoted to Fang Yu. He begins with the entitlement of a celebrated Chosen but has enough self-preservation to abandon arrogance once defeat is certain. His fawning can be shameless, yet the love and family that follow are not a trick. Around Meng Hao, pride in being family and memories of earlier terror coexist for thousands of years.

Abilities and cultivation

Chosen-level cultivation

Sun Hai arrives on South Heaven beyond ordinary peak Dao Seeking, accompanied by an ancient Dao Protector. He can compete with the Ninth Mountain's leading generation and climb to the upper reaches of the East Ascension Sun trial. (Chapters 820, 933–934)

Church of the Emperor Immortal inheritance

His techniques and resources come from a major Church capable of cultivating true-Immortal candidates. The supplied scenes emphasize status and comparative strength more than named personal arts, so no unsupported signature technique is assigned.

Formation knowledge

Sun Hai recognizes the Blackmoon Guards' fusion art and explains its multiplication: seven people form a formation, seven formations a spell, seven spells a divine ability, and seven divine abilities a Dao. This shows broad elite education even when he is only an observer. (Chapter 929)

War survival

He continues cultivating and fighting through the Mountain and Sea conflict, then endures two millennia inside the Butterfly. The record does not provide a later exact realm, but his survival among the veterans indicates sustained advancement and resilience.
