Song Tian

Song Tian is the Song Clan patriarch who presides over the World Tree search for a son-in-law and later becomes one of the Southern Domain’s peak Dao Seeking defenders. He recognizes Meng Hao’s unconventional Dao early, then fights beside him when the Northern Reaches invade.

Biography

World Tree gathering

Song Tian opens the Song Clan gathering through a cosmic time-shifting display that places its banquet among the clouds. He unfolds the Ancient Will of the World Tree, a painting containing a will shard of the destroyed tree, and sends the younger cultivators inside to pursue the Cubic Pearl. Although the occasion is framed as Song Jia’s marriage trial, he also uses the treasured world to let the participants gain enlightenment and publicly offers the painting to the successful son-in-law. Meng Hao’s Perfect Foundation absorbs spiritual energy from the painted world and produces the Sublime Spirit Scripture’s golden manifestation. Song Tian watches more closely than the other patriarchs, orders that Meng Hao not be provoked, and praises his refusal to accept any of nine conventional paths. He claims Meng Hao as the Song Clan’s chosen son-in-law to deter the surrounding sects. Yet when all five sects and two clans close in, he understands that his own territory cannot safely oppose them together and is relieved when Meng Hao teleports away. Admiration is therefore tempered by realistic responsibility for his clan. (Chapters 195–200)

Alliance with Meng Hao

Years later, Song Tian gives Meng Hao a jade slip preserving the likeness of the Immortal woman who had approached the clan concerning Song Jia. He accepts Meng Hao and Xu Qing’s wedding invitation, then adds a great surge of celebratory energy to the ceremony. The wedding is immediately interrupted by the Northern Reaches’ Hellwither Nineruins curse assault. Song Tian answers the crisis personally, joining Pill Demon and Sun Tao in stopping the curse vessel over the Milky Way Sea. (Chapters 760, 764 and 766–768)

Southern Domain war

Song Tian continues fighting after losing an arm and an eye and beginning to burn life force. He helps hold back multiple peak Dao Seeking invaders, then joins Pill Demon and the Golden Frost Patriarch in choosing Blood Demon Sect as the Southern Domain’s final defensive center. He gathers supplies, establishes ten great formations, and uses an Arcane Scrying Eye to detect the approaching Northern army. When the formations activate, he leads two hundred thousand cultivators into the final battle against five opposing peak experts. (Chapters 772–773 and 784–785)

Appearance and personality

Song Tian first appears as an old man whose exact realm is difficult for Nascent Soul observers to read. He is dignified, perceptive, and capable of delight in a junior’s original Dao. His political caution is not cowardice: he avoids sacrificing the clan to an impossible coalition at the World Tree gathering, but later accepts mutilation and burns his own life force when the whole Southern Domain is at stake.

Abilities and cultivation

Peak Dao Seeking cultivation

Although early rumor places him around Spirit Severing, the later war explicitly establishes Song Tian among the Southern Domain’s peak Dao Seeking experts. He can contend with one enemy of the same level and continue after severe bodily loss, but he cannot alone cover all five Northern peak experts.

Cosmic time shifting

Song Tian’s opening display changes the gathering’s environment so that cultivators banquet among clouds overlooking the trial world. Observers call the art a perfected cosmic time shift. The supplied scene demonstrates large-scale spatial or temporal staging, but not enough combat use to specify whether it can age or slow an enemy.

World Tree painting

Through the Ancient Will of the World Tree, he opens a self-contained trial world holding ancient will and unusual spiritual energy. The painting admits many participants, displays their progress to outside observers, and contains tests of movement, enlightenment, and Dao heart. Song Tian administers the treasure but did not create it; Shui Dongliu painted it.

Copper coffin

Against the curse force, Song Tian summons the Song Clan’s copper coffin as a precious treasure. Its appearance follows an incantation and the fading of nearby spiritual energy. The battle is interrupted among several simultaneous techniques, so the coffin’s complete offensive mechanism remains unspecified.

Arcane Scrying Eye and formations

His Arcane Scrying Eye searches over long distance and identifies both the Northern army and its strongest lightning-wreathed leader, though that expert notices the observation. Song Tian also helps arrange ten defensive formations that release innumerable illusory spirit swords. These are alliance-scale preparations built with other patriarchs and collected resources.
