Eccentric Song

Eccentric Song is a powerful, competitive Song Clan cultivator whose boastful wagers repeatedly bring him into Meng Hao’s orbit.

Biography

The wagered treasure mountain

Eccentric Song's first encounter with Meng Hao begins as a boast during his rivalry with Wu Dingqiu. He opens a treasure mountain to Violet Fate outer disciples and publicly declares that anyone below Foundation Establishment may take whatever they can acquire. The mountain is stocked with rare mutated beasts and treasures selected partly to display Song's wealth. He expects the disciples to fail and his wager to humiliate Wu Dingqiu. (Chapters 48–50)

Meng Hao enters under the literal terms of the promise and systematically empties the mountain. He takes spirit beasts and high-value objects, including the Heaven Entangling Net, while Eccentric Song endures one loss after another because retracting his declaration before rival experts would destroy his face. The eccentric grows furious but remains bound by his own words. Meng Hao then trades some spoils under pressure from the Violet Fate disciples and escapes convinced that he has somehow been wronged. (Chapters 51–57)

Song Clan gathering

Song later appears among the Southern Domain powers watching the Blood Immortal Legacy. At the Song Clan search for a son-in-law, he hosts rival delegations and defends the value of the Cubic Pearl, a Sun-and-Moon-refined treasure capable of dispelling strange poisons. He remembers Meng Hao as the iron-spear swindler but also prevents Wang Clan elders from casually interfering with the junior. (Chapters 120–193)

During the World Tree trial, Eccentric Song wagers on Meng Hao rather than reflexively backing his own clan's candidates. He notices that Meng Hao can absorb the trial's spiritual energy and collects winnings as the other Nascent Soul elders realize the advantage too late. When Meng Hao rejects the nine established paths and creates a tenth, Song is stunned but fascinated. The man who robbed him has become the unpredictable contender he trusts most to break a test's assumptions. (Chapters 194–199)

Later encounters

Eccentric Song accompanies Song Jia to Pill Demon's promotion ceremony and later observes the crisis near the Rebirth Cave and Meng Hao's escape toward the Black Lands. These appearances place him among the Southern Domain's established representatives rather than as a direct pursuer. He continues to measure risk through clan interest and public reputation. (Chapters 279, 308, 314)

By the era of the Ancient Dao Lakes and Blood Demon Sect, Meng Hao is far too powerful for the old treasure grievance to be enforced. Eccentric Song attends the gathering and later faces him at a Song Clan banquet with conspicuous nervousness. He uses flattery and hospitality to smooth over the history, converting a humiliating wager into a survivable old acquaintance. (Chapters 712, 717, 760)

Appearance and personality

Long gray hair and an iridescent black robe give Song a disordered, imposing appearance suited to the title Eccentric. His emotional reactions are rarely subtle; delight, rage, and nervous calculation all show plainly.

He is boastful, theatrical, spiteful, shrewd, and constrained by public promises. Face matters enormously, which is why Meng Hao can keep taking treasures after Song wants the contest stopped. Yet the same concern produces reliability: once words are spoken before peers, he honors them. He is also capable of learning. After early humiliation, he recognizes Meng Hao's unusual strengths, backs him in a later wager, and eventually chooses diplomacy over impossible revenge.

Abilities and cultivation

Nascent Soul cultivation

Eccentric Song can travel at high speed, project divine sense, and represent a great clan among peer sects. The supplied record does not establish a later realm beyond the table's description.

Trial-ground construction

He establishes and monitors a mountain forest stocked with restrictions, mutated beasts, and treasures. The test admits sub-Foundation cultivators while elders observe from outside. (Chapters 48–57)

Spirit-beast collection

His mountain contains rare creatures such as a snow-white mutated beast collected over years. This reflects wealth and beast knowledge more than a personal beast-control combat art. (Chapter 50)

Treasure deployment

Song places binding and storage artifacts as trial rewards. His error is assuming cultivation restrictions make them impossible to remove; Meng Hao's resources defeat that security model.

Spiritual-energy analysis

During the World Tree trial he deduces that Meng Hao can replenish himself by absorbing the painted world's spiritual energy and turns the observation into a successful wager. (Chapters 194–195)
