Hanxue Zong

Hanxue Zong is a Frigid Snow Clan Chosen who returns a thousand years after betraying his family. He helps engineer an alchemy challenge and abduction, but the master supporting his revenge ultimately consumes him as bloodline fuel.

Biography

Return to Holy Snow City

Hanxue Zong enters Holy Snow City with Yan Song and a late Nascent Soul expert while the Black Lands Palace pressures the city. Clan records identify him as a gifted member from a millennium earlier whom Hanxue Bao defeated but spared. He now declares himself a Five Moons Tribe vassal and uses intimate knowledge of the city's resources to offer a bargain: an alchemy duel in exchange for three months without Western Desert attack. The besieged clan accepts because even a suspicious respite is strategically necessary. (Chapters 360–363)

The duel ostensibly tests Yan Song against Zhou Dekun, but it also places a valuable alchemist within reach. Hanxue Zong misreads Zhou's composure and Yan Song's admiration as proof of supreme mastery. When the opportunity appears, his companion attacks and Hanxue Zong shatters Zhou's protective shield, sweeps aside the four Grand Elders, and abducts the unwilling alchemist. Even so, he keeps the promised three-month truce, showing that the challenge was both deception and binding diplomatic arrangement. (Chapters 364–366)

Revenge and consumption

Hanxue Zong returns behind his black-robed Spirit Severing master when the final attack on Holy Snow City begins. His motive includes recovering the Frigid Snow secret art that Hanxue Bao erased from his memory when sparing him. He gives his blood willingly so the master can form a younger likeness of him and assault his father's legacy. When Meng Hao receives that inheritance instead, Hanxue Zong's belief that it belongs to him becomes open jealousy. (Chapters 368 and 374–376)

The relationship he trusted is purely exploitative. Under pressure from Meng Hao and the ancient Agarwood bloodline revelation, the black-robed cultivator activates Blood and Will Liquefaction on his disciple. Hanxue Zong rapidly withers into a desiccated corpse while all his blood is extracted to empower his master's escape. His attempt to reclaim a bloodline legacy thus ends with that bloodline being treated as a consumable resource. (Chapter 377)

Appearance and personality

Despite being more than a thousand years old, Hanxue Zong appears as a young man. He often wears a slight smile and maintains controlled confidence while negotiating, but becomes fanatically deferential around his master.

He is intelligent enough to exploit siege conditions and honor a useful bargain, yet resentment distorts his judgment. He interprets mercy from his father as deprivation, confuses his master's interest in his blood with approval, and cannot accept Meng Hao as a legitimate heir.

Abilities and cultivation

Frigid Snow bloodline

Hanxue Zong carries the ancient clan blood needed to interact with Hanxue Bao's legacy. His master can use a donated mouthful to create a younger blood likeness, and can later drain the entire body through Blood and Will Liquefaction. The bloodline is therefore potent, but possession alone does not restore the secret art erased from his memories.

Combat and suppression

He moves fast enough to appear beside Zhou Dekun, breaks the alchemist's protective shield with a palm, and waves away four Grand Elders while completing the abduction. These feats establish substantial cultivation, although the source does not provide a secure named stage on this page.

Political leverage

As a Western Desert vassal with inside knowledge of Holy Snow City, Hanxue Zong can suspend an assault for three months and define an alchemy contest whose outcome affects military timing. This authority depends on his factional backing and does not protect him from his Spirit Severing master.

Missing inheritance

Hanxue Bao erased Hanxue Zong's memories of the Frigid Snow secret technique. He cannot reconstruct it independently and returns partly because a living clan member must transmit it. This is a firm limitation: blood and former status are insufficient without preserved knowledge and recognition.
