Outer Sect rank

Han Zong appears at Pill Distribution as a fifth-level Qi Condensation cultivator already ranked second in the Outer Sect. That position gives him status over ordinary disciples and marks him as a likely future Inner Sect contender. His standing is strengthened by service to Shangguan Xiu, whose resources let Han operate with authority beyond his nominal rank. (Chapter 5)

By Chapter 26, Han has reached the sixth level. He carries a powerful talisman while conveying Shangguan Xiu’s summons and escorts Meng Hao to West Mountain. When the confrontation there fails to produce the desired submission, Han is sent to search Meng Hao’s South Mountain cave, functioning as enforcer and investigator for his patron. (Chapters 26–27)

Tournament challenge

Han reports the cave empty, enters the Inner Sect tournament, and threatens Meng Hao’s life. Zhou Kai concedes rather than test Han’s cultivation and borrowed equipment, allowing Han to advance without revealing his full hand. He also threatens Li Fugui, using fear to isolate Meng Hao socially before their match. (Chapters 28–29)

In the arena, Han deploys a Stone Golem and the Five Radiances banner supplied by Shangguan Xiu.
