Hairy #5

Hairy #5 is one of the five Greenwood Wolf pups assigned to Meng Hao. His early duels demonstrate how Meng Hao's feeding and Demonic-qi methods turn an ordinary level-one pup into a level-two predator with exceptional burst speed.

Biography

Nurturing under Meng Hao

Hairy #5 begins as one of five hungry kennel pups. He reacts frantically when Meng Hao introduces a Demon Nurturing Pill and competes with the pack for its Demonic qi. Rather than relying on prepared meat thereafter, Meng Hao takes the wolves into the mountains to kill living prey. The regimen produces rapid advancement and changes their feeding instincts as well as their combat experience. (Chapters 393–396)

By the time Wu Chen intrudes, the five wolves can surround and pressure a cultivator as a coordinated unit. Hairy #5 remains playful around his packmates and rests near Meng Hao, but responds immediately when selected for the neo-demon duel. (Chapters 397–400)

Duel and attempted theft

Against Wu Ali's level-two Greenwood Bat, Hairy #5 accelerates to roughly ten times his initial speed. The bat cannot complete its first movement before the wolf reaches it, bites down, and kills and swallows it. The victory is important because both beasts are nominally the same level; Meng Hao's nurturing has produced a qualitative difference not reflected by the simple ranking. (Chapter 401)

Mo Fang next tries to lure the wolves with incense, a Demon Nurturing Pill, and Searchtree Deer meat refined for eight months. Hairy #5 yawns at the incense, nudges Hairy #4 instead of approaching the pill, and sniffs the meat only from curiosity. Food that would control an ordinarily conditioned Greenwood Wolf has little leverage over an animal accustomed to live prey and Meng Hao's Demonic qi. (Chapters 402–403)

Later, Hairy #5's curiosity draws him toward the putrescent Zombie Wolves used by a Crow Soldier cultivator. The attacker recognizes his unusual quality and tries to capture him as a gift. Hairy #5 fights but is wounded by a protective totem; his packmates and Meng Hao's arrival prevent the theft, and the five wolves subsequently help tear apart Gu La's Zombie Wolves. (Chapters 412–414)

Appearance and personality

Hairy #5 grows from a hungry pup into a large Greenwood Wolf with a mighty bearing and cold eyes in combat. Outside battle he is high-spirited, curious, playful with Hairy #4, and prone to investigating unfamiliar creatures.

He is neither indiscriminately ravenous nor easy to bribe. The contrast between bored yawns and sudden lethal acceleration makes his temperament dependent on Meng Hao's direction, genuine prey, or a real threat.

Abilities and cultivation

Tenfold burst speed

Hairy #5 can multiply his movement speed by roughly ten in a combat burst, becoming a ghostlike green blur beyond what observers expect from a level-two neo-demon. It is sufficient to defeat an equal-level bat before it reacts. Hairy #4 is later shown to be twice as fast, so Hairy #5's burst is exceptional but not the pack's upper limit.

Bite and predation

His preferred kill is direct: close before the target can maneuver, bite through it, and consume it. This is effective against a fragile flying beast but exposes him to contact defenses, as shown when a cultivator's protective totem wounds him.

Pack coordination

The five wolves surround intruders, defend wounded members, and attack Zombie Wolves together. Hairy #5 benefits from this social structure; when isolated by curiosity, he is more vulnerable to capture than when the pack and Meng Hao are present.

Nurturing-conditioned resistance

Repeated exposure to Demonic qi and live hunting makes standard Dragoneer lures ineffective. Incense, processed meat, and a rival pill do not override his attachment or training. The source does not establish immunity to all control arts—only resistance to the specific inducements Mo Fang uses.
