Hairy #4

Hairy #4 is one of five starving Greenwood Wolf pups assigned to Meng Hao in the Crow Scout Tribe. Demonic Qi, food, and attentive care turn it into an exceptional level-two neo-demon distinguished by fierce resistance to rival brands and protective loyalty toward its pack.

Biography

From starving pup to neo-demon

Hairy #4 begins in a neglected kennel with four littermates. Hunger makes all five react desperately when Meng Hao produces a Demon Nurturing Pill, but he does not merely give them a temporary stimulant. He feeds them, observes their condition, and introduces Demonic Qi through a pill. The wolves break out to compete for it, then undergo rapid physical and spiritual improvement. Within days they advance into unusually powerful level-two Greenwood Wolves whose condition draws the attention of the Crow Scout Dragoneers. (Chapters 393–397)

Wu Chen selects Hairy #4 as a prospective neo-demon and repeatedly attempts to imprint a controlling brand. Every brand fails. Instead of becoming docile, the wolf lunges close enough to nearly tear out Wu Chen’s throat; only Meng Hao’s recall stops the attack. The scene establishes that Hairy #4’s bond is not a general susceptibility to Dragoneers. Its cultivated loyalty is specifically attached to the person who nurtured it. (Chapter 398)

Trial and pack defense

During the public Dragoneer challenge, Hairy #4 answers Wu Ali’s mutated black bat with a single claw strike. The bat dies instantly, demonstrating that the wolf’s level understates its actual lethality after Meng Hao’s nurturing. When Mo Fang later offers incense, food, magic, and even a Demon Nurturing Pill, Hairy #4 ignores the enticements and plays with Hairy #5 instead. Material reward cannot displace the existing bond. (Chapters 400–404)

When Gu La’s Zombie Wolves attack, Hairy #4 knocks one attacker back and places itself between danger and Hairy #5. It then joins the other four wolves in coordinated close combat. The pack tears apart opponents that initially intimidate them, and Meng Hao’s arrival restores their confidence when pressure mounts. Hairy #4’s arc therefore develops from competition for survival into deliberate protection of another pack member. (Chapters 412–414)

Appearance and personality

Hairy #4 is a Greenwood Wolf whose precise markings are not separately described from the pack. Its behavior is more distinctive: it is violently unreceptive to unwanted control, playful when safe, and protective when a weaker packmate is threatened. It obeys Meng Hao immediately even at the height of an attack, combining ferocity with unusually precise loyalty.

Abilities and cultivation

Demonic Qi advancement

Food and Demonic Qi transform Hairy #4 from a starving pup into an exceptional level-two neo-demon. Demonic Qi nourishes more than muscle; it improves the wolf’s spiritual nature and battle potential. The growth depends on Meng Hao’s nurturing and is not shown as an ability Hairy #4 can independently reproduce.

Brand resistance

Wu Chen’s repeated Dragoneer brands fail to establish ownership. Hairy #4 remains aggressive and answers the attempt with lethal force. This proves resistance to the brands shown in that scene, not universal immunity to every possible control technique.

Claw strike

One direct claw attack kills Wu Ali’s mutated bat before it can make the contest competitive. The strike demonstrates speed, accuracy, and power concentrated into close range. No ranged technique or named claw art is established.

Protective pack combat

Hairy #4 can intercept an attacker, knock it away from Hairy #5, and then coordinate with the other wolves in a group mauling. The pack’s strength comes from synchronized pressure and mutual confidence; when isolated or faced with an overwhelming aura, the wolves remain capable of fear.
