Fellow Daoist Sima

Fellow Daoist Sima is a taciturn rogue cultivator recruited because his Sima ancestry satisfies one of Han Bei's Nine Great Family conditions. His knowledge helps the party identify the cauldron's contents, but he dies after taking its bait jade.

Biography

Sima travels among the three late Foundation Establishment rogue guests and waits at Han Bei's secret rendezvous with the Li Woman. He speaks little, supports Meng Hao's demand for information, and sends a scorpion through Han Bei's claimed exit before accepting the route. (Chapters 145 and 155–157)

Inside the cauldron, Sima recognizes Blue Heaven Elixir and uses a blue-glowing wooden slip to repel lightning. One ancestral statue resembles him, confirming that his bloodline is part of the mechanism. Magical symbols in his eyes also identify the emerging entity as Ultimate Vexation, the being later called Meat Jelly. (Chapters 159–161)

When Han Bei releases jade fragments, Sima takes one despite the escalating danger. Ten bolts converge, exhaust and destroy his wooden-slip defense, and reduce his body and possessions to ash. Only the ancient jade remains. (Chapter 162)

Appearance and personality

Sima is a fierce, beardless man described in both white and gray robes, without a prominent Adam's apple. A desolate killing aura and minimal speech make him remote. He is knowledgeable and cautious, but inheritance greed ultimately defeats that caution.
