Black Sieve Second Severing Patriarch
Black Sieve Second Severing Patriarch is an unnamed Spirit Severing patriarch who helps defend the Black Sieve Sect while its leadership refines Xu Qing's soul.
Biography
Defense of the soul-refining site
The unnamed Second Severing patriarch waits beside the Black Sieve Sect's refining incense burner with the stronger Murong Duo and another patriarch while Meng Hao attacks the sect. The leadership believes its disciple-powered formations and final transformations can kill an invader of Meng Hao's apparent realm before the refinement is complete. Watching his fleshly body survive those defenses shakes that confidence, but the patriarch remains at the protected center rather than abandoning the process. (Chapters 694–696)
When Meng Hao penetrates the defenses, the Second Severing patriarch rises and orders him stopped. He personally intercepts Meng Hao between the outer formations and the incense burner holding Xu Qing's body. Meng Hao's first sweep hurls him backward coughing blood, but the delay gives Murong Duo more time to accelerate the refinement. Even wounded, the patriarch returns instead of retreating, making himself a second line of defense for the sect's plan. (Chapter 697)
Death before the incense burner
After Meng Hao detonates fifty thousand mountains and breaks the mass formation, the patriarch manifests a gigantic spiked Xuanwu that charges the invader. Falling mountain fragments crush it back. He then forms black mist into a glowing Xuanwu statue whose wailing shakes the battlefield. Meng Hao counters with his remaining Time Sword tip and the Eighth Hex; the Xuanwu withers, the patriarch is immobilized, and the blade steals ten thousand years of longevity. Meng Hao's mountain Area then catches the already injured elder and destroys him in body and soul. His repeated return slows Meng Hao, but cannot keep him from reaching the burner. (Chapter 698)
Appearance and personality
He is an old man; the text supplies no more reliable physical portrait. He is loyal to the Black Sieve Sect's hidden project and willing to continue after being badly wounded. His shock at Meng Hao's body shows that he can recognize when the sect's estimates have failed, yet obedience and urgency outweigh self-preservation. The corpus does not provide a personal justification for refining Xu Qing's soul.
Abilities and cultivation
He is a peak Second Severing cultivator whose principal personal manifestations take the form of a Xuanwu turtle.
Second Severing cultivation
His realm allows him to stand close to the sect's most important formation and briefly obstruct Meng Hao after the surrounding defenses collapse. It does not make him equal to Meng Hao's Eternal-stratum body and mountain Area: a sleeve strike wounds and repels him before he can establish a prolonged exchange. (Chapters 694–697)
Spiked Xuanwu manifestation
His first shown divine ability creates a gigantic Xuanwu with a vicious spiked shell and sends it charging forward. Meng Hao counters by dropping portions of five crumbling mountains, which injures the patriarch and throws him back. The attack is forceful but vulnerable to overwhelming area pressure. (Chapter 698)
Wailing Xuanwu statue
After being injured, he uses an incantation to turn black mist into a mysterious, glowing Xuanwu statue that emits battlefield-shaking wails. A Time Sword tip causes the manifestation to age, wither, and dissipate. The Eighth Hex then freezes the patriarch long enough for the sword to take ten thousand years of longevity. This sequence shows that the defense can be countered by time power and immobilization before its full effect is demonstrated. (Chapter 698)
