The Black Lands Azure-Masked Cultivator Yang is the skinny Core Formation expert who ambushes Meng Hao and Zhou Dekun, then becomes the opponent against whom Meng Hao completes an unprecedented tenth Dao Pillar.

Biography

Alchemist ambush

Yang and a pudgy azure-masked companion besiege a Golden Frost Sect Core Formation guardian while white-masked subordinates imprison alchemists. After Meng Hao kills the subordinates, Yang finishes the guardian, recognizes the East Pill Division Furnace Lord Fang Mu, and pursues him as a valuable captive. His light-yellow Core Qi tracks Meng Hao through repeated displacements from the Furnace Lord robe, preventing ordinary escape. (Chapters 260–262)

Meng Hao survives the pursuit through layered resources rather than equal cultivation: Zhou Yanyun's protective jade blocks a lethal strike, the Eighth Demon Sealing Hex interrupts Yang, poison and Violet Pupil Transformation create openings, and Patriarch Reliance's charm finally teleports him away. Yang interprets the escape as temporary and believes the frigid force left by his Ten Flood Dragons will kill Fang Mu afterward. That conclusion turns the unfinished ambush into the confidence behind his later acceptance of a rematch. (Chapters 261–263)

Public rematch

Yang reaches the Dao Geyser with the Black Lands delegation and stands as protector to gold-masked Dao Children Luo Chong and Xu Fei. Meng Hao reveals Fang Mu's identity and demands a witnessed personal battle. Yang accepts because an early Core Formation cultivator with developed Core Qi should overwhelm anyone in Foundation Establishment, even a famous alchemist. (Chapters 267–270)

Yang escalates through dragons and phoenixes, Core Qi swords, the Distilled Fiends Net, Shade Horses, the Soul Emergence Sword, and a Flood Dragon Ancestor. The pressure supplies ancient battle Qi that helps Meng Hao form his ninth and then impossible tenth Dao Pillar. Meng Hao's Wooden Time Swords take sixty years from Yang, aging his body and weakening the soul on which later techniques depend. Yang still uses the Yellow Springs Three Incarnations Seal, but Meng Hao projects a streamer from the Blood Immortal Legacy flag and decapitates him. (Chapters 270–275)

Appearance and personality

Yang is skinny, black-robed, and initially hidden behind an azure mask. After the Time Sword takes his longevity, the mask falls away to reveal a pale, aged face. He is ruthless, proud, and contemptuous of Foundation Establishment cultivators. Meng Hao's first escape becomes a personal humiliation; in the rematch, Yang spends treasures, longevity, life force, and soul power rather than accept that his realm advantage has failed.

Abilities and cultivation

Orange Core and cultivated Core Qi

Yang is at early Core Formation but has already cultivated Core Qi, marking him as an exceptional Chosen. The pale-yellow energy can become swords, a roc, and other attack forms, and it can lock onto Meng Hao through multiple spatial displacements. Its strength comes from the formed Core and therefore exceeds ordinary Foundation Establishment spiritual power. The rematch shows the limit: a Perfect Foundation completing additional Dao Pillars can continue rising until the nominal realm gap no longer guarantees victory. (Chapters 260–263 and 270–274)

Frigid beasts and soul attacks

Ten manifested Flood Dragons carry frigid force that remains in the target after the immediate clash, allowing Yang to expect delayed death even after Meng Hao escapes. He also summons dragon-and-phoenix forms and eventually projects his soul from the Core as the Soul Emergence Sword. That sword attacks on a layer ordinary defenses may not stop, but it exposes Yang's soul; after the Wooden Time Sword ages and weakens him, committing soul power becomes increasingly dangerous. (Chapters 261–263 and 270–275)

Distilled Fiends Net and Shade Horses

The Distilled Fiends Net is woven from hair and refined with more than a thousand living souls, producing a trapping field saturated with grievance. Nine armored, decomposing Shade Horses add an army-like death aura and charge as a coordinated formation. Both techniques multiply Yang's battlefield presence through captured or dead beings, but Meng Hao's growing Dao Pillars and battle Qi allow him to break successive layers instead of being overwhelmed by their numbers. Forbidden final techniques

Yang sacrifices a bluish-black statuette to call a Flood Dragon Ancestor and uses the Consummate Life Force Sword, converting precious vitality into attack power. His Yellow Springs Three Incarnations Seal is a costly Black Lands forbidden art used only after ordinary Core Qi and treasures fail. These methods can raise a dying cultivator's final output, but they do not restore lost longevity or repair the soul damage inflicted by time; the Blood Immortal flag's projected streamer ultimately cuts through and beheads him. Relationships

• Meng Hao: Intended captive and eventual killer. Their first chase exposes Meng Hao's limits; the rematch supplies the battle pressure for his tenth Dao Pillar.
