Death Lord's Axe

The Death Lord's Axe, later described as a black giant axe, is the weapon the Death Lord wields against Kang Shin and the vessel that preserves his life after defeat. Shin takes custody of it and later gifts the axe to Loretta, while the Death Lord remains a sentient resident rather than property transferred between them. (Chapters 329–331 and 352)

History

From the Death Lord's weapon to Loretta's protection

The Death Lord uses the axe throughout his duel with Shin, channeling death energy through it to launch aura waves and meet Shin's spear directly. By absorbing more death energy, the weapon can grow larger, sharper, and tougher, and it withstands Heroic Strike without a scratch. When Shin destroys the Death Lord's body, he briefly controls the axe through Eliminator; moments later it stops behaving as an ordinary weapon because it has become the vessel carrying the defeated warrior's life. (Chapters 329–330)

Shin retrieves the black giant axe after defeating the Death Lord and stores it in his inventory. By the time he presents it to Loretta, he has already extracted its skill, but the weapon remains exceptionally sturdy and still carries the Death Lord's life. Because Shin's Chaotic Spear is already full and does not need the axe as material, he offers it to Loretta as both a gift and a means of self-protection. Loretta accepts, tests it with several swings, discovers that the dungeon cannot appraise it, and stores it using her own spatial magic. (Chapter 331)

When Shin returns after defeating Sherafina, he finds Loretta clutching the axe in her cabin and credits it with helping to keep her safe. The Death Lord is still conscious within it, responds to Shin's thanks, and asks him to create a new body as repayment. Loretta remains the axe's current holder at the end of the supplied corpus; the Death Lord's request leaves the resident consciousness's possible future separation unresolved. (Chapter 352)

Abilities and properties

  • The weapon channels the Death Lord's death energy into aura waves and can enlarge and harden itself by absorbing more of that energy. It survives Heroic Strike without being scratched, although the blow still overcomes its guard. (Chapters 329–330)
  • The axe remains exceptionally sturdy after Shin extracts its skill and considers it suitable for Loretta, but the corpus does not name the extracted skill or quantify the weapon's later attack power. (Chapter 331)
  • Loretta cannot appraise the weapon because it has passed beyond what Sherafina's dungeon system can read. This prevents a normal item sheet from establishing its rank, requirements, or complete properties. (Chapter 331)
  • The axe retains the Death Lord's life and allows his consciousness to remain aware and communicate. That consciousness is a resident person, not an owned property of Shin or Loretta. (Chapters 331 and 352)
  • Shin expects the axe to protect Loretta, and the Death Lord later accepts his thanks for helping her. The evidence supports protective intervention by the resident Death Lord, but it does not define an automatic defensive skill inherent to the axe itself. (Chapters 331 and 352)
  • Loretta can wield the axe and store it inside her body through spatial magic. That storage method belongs to Loretta rather than to the weapon. (Chapter 331)

Ownership and custody

Holder or custodianRelationship to the item
Death LordOriginal wielder and continuing resident consciousness. He channels death energy through the axe in his final duel, and his life remains bound within it after defeat; he is not described as property belonging to its later holders. (Chapters 329–331 and 352)
Kang ShinAcquires and temporarily stores the axe after defeating the Death Lord, extracts its skill, and then gives the physical weapon to Loretta. (Chapter 331)
LorettaGift recipient, current holder, and demonstrated wielder. She keeps the axe in her spatial storage and later holds it in her cabin while the Death Lord remains resident. (Chapters 331 and 352)
