Black Earthen Spear

The Black Earthen Spear, formally offered as Arachne's Black Earthen Spear, is Kang Shin's first major Event Dungeon weapon. Its statistics and bone-devouring poison make it a decisive upgrade over his Silver Spear, but the Grim Reaper breaks it and its remains become the first weapon consumed by the Crimson Gluttony Spear. History

Event Dungeon reward and destruction

Shin earns first choice of rewards after making the greatest contribution against Arachne in an A-rank Event Dungeon. He immediately selects Arachne's Black Earthen Spear, even hiding the prize before his spear-wielding father can see it. The weapon replaces Shin's recently acquired Silver Spear because its statistical increase and poison are plainly superior. He uses it to spread poison through zombie groups, pairs it with Tempest and Extending Spear for wide attacks, and later applies a purchased Flame Enchant scroll so it can radiate heat during his search for Ruyue. (Chapters 44, 46–47, 55, and 74–80)

During Shin's attempts to defeat the Grim Reaper, he throws the Black Earthen Spear with Divine Speed and lodges it in the boss's chest. The reaper pulls it free and snaps the shaft in half, ending its service as a usable spear. Lin soon gives Shin the Crimson Gluttony Spear, which consumes the broken halves as its first growth material. The Black Earthen Spear contributes one percent and ceases to exist as a separate object; it is material absorbed by the later weapon, not another name for that spear. (Chapters 91–93)

Abilities and properties

• The spear adds five Strength and ten Dexterity, making it a substantial early improvement over Shin's Silver Spear. (Chapter 46)
• Every attack made with it deals poison damage and has a chance to poison the target. The poison burns blood and consumes bone, and it remains effective against zombies that retain flesh and blood. (Chapters 46–47)
• Tempest, Extending Spear, Divine Speed, and the weapon's temporary fire enchantment come from Shin's skills or an external scroll rather than the Black Earthen Spear's inherent properties. Those combinations broaden its reach and applications without changing the source of its native poison. (Chapters 47, 55, 74, and 92)
• The weapon is durable enough that its shaft has not previously broken even when its blade dulls, but it cannot withstand the Grim Reaper physically snapping it. Once broken, it is not repaired; both halves are irreversibly consumed by the Crimson Gluttony Spear. (Chapters 92–93)
