Luca Bruno
Luca Bruno is Italy's former SS-ranker and a member of the Heroes of Shadow conspiracy. His ability combines covert charm with monster control, allowing him to manipulate attraction, tame creatures, and direct insect swarms until Kang Shin uses the Hero's authority to remove the power and transfers it to Kang Yua. (Chapters 153 and 177–181; Chapter 202)
Biography
Charm, Retaliation, and Lost Power
Luca approaches Revival at Venice's S+ Event Dungeon under the pretext of helping, but secretly sends mana toward every woman in the group while flattering them. Hwaya detects the movement and refuses him without creating an international confrontation. Ye-Eun briefly perceives him as Shin, Shuna needs guardian power to clear the influence, and Ludia rejects it with holy power, exposing an attempted violation rather than harmless courtship. Luca leaves before the dungeon is cleared. (Chapter 153)
As part of the Heroes of Shadow network organized with Joshua Brightman, Luca later uses information supplied about Revival's families to target Yua in Korea. He charms her, empties the area with another ability, and sends insect monsters after Edward Walker, but Shin tracks his mana through a disguise and captures him. Under interrogation, Luca identifies Brightman, the organization, and its members, giving Shin the intelligence used to dismantle the wider faction. (Chapters 177–181)
Shin mutilates Luca for attacking Yua, then invokes the Hero's authority to retrieve his SS-rank ability. The extracted mana identifies Yua as its suitable recipient and transforms into her charm-and-taming power, while Luca is left pale, powerless, and severely disabled. Chapter 202 confirms that his former ability is developing through Yua; it does not establish Luca's recovery, imprisonment, or death, so his later fate remains unknown. (Chapters 178–179 and 202)
Appearance and personality
Luca is a very handsome man in his mid-twenties with slightly messy hair and a deliberately showy shirt. His strong mana marks him as an SS-ranker even before he demonstrates his ability. He later disguises himself thoroughly in Korea, but Peika follows his mana, and the corpus does not describe that temporary disguise in enough detail to treat it as a second stable appearance. (Chapters 153 and 178)
He presents himself as charming, complimentary, and eager to cooperate, yet uses that performance to conceal coercive mana directed at multiple women. His later attack on Yua is calculated around her relationship with Shin, and he attempts to flee or bargain once caught. The contrast establishes a manipulative opportunist whose confidence depends heavily on covert influence and allies rather than resolve in a direct confrontation. (Chapters 153 and 177–179)
Powers and abilities
Before its removal, Luca's SS-rank ability joins mental charm to monster control and an enormous mana reserve. He also uses concealment effects whose relationship to that core ability is never clarified. After Chapter 179, every later demonstration of the transferred power belongs to Yua, and Luca has no confirmed supernatural capability remaining. (Chapters 153 and 178–179; Chapter 202)
Charm and perception manipulation
Luca can apply a subtle mental effect without obvious gestures or immediately perceptible mana. It creates attraction and can alter perception—Ye-Eun momentarily sees him as Shin—while a stronger application leaves Yua flushed, unfocused, and compelled to meet him. The effect is not absolute: Hwaya detects the mana, Bleeding Heart cancels it, holy power rejects false love, and guardian power can protect or restore a target. (Chapter 153; Chapters 177–178)
Monster control and mana
After Luca's ability transfers to Yua, it is identified as a charm especially suited to controlling monsters, making its recipient a natural Tamer. Luca himself directs flying insect monsters against Walker and carries tiny creatures on his body that automatically counterattack when Shin captures him. His SS-rank mana is described as boundless during the transfer, but the corpus does not show him overpowering Walker or Shin in direct combat, and his creatures are quickly destroyed by Peika and petrification. (Chapters 178–179 and 202)
Concealment and loss of power
Luca can disguise his outward appearance and uses an unidentified effect to keep civilians away from Yua's location. Neither method hides his mana from Peika, and the supplied text does not clarify whether concealment is part of his SS-rank charm or a separate learned ability. Shin's Hero authority removes the core ability completely after judging Luca opposed to the Hero and the ability users' original duty; all later demonstrations belong to Yua, not Luca. (Chapters 178–179)
Relationships
- Kang Yua: Luca targets and charms Yua as leverage against Shin. After his defeat, she becomes the compatible recipient of his ability and turns its monster-control potential toward Revival's defense. (Chapters 177–179 and 202)
- Kang Shin: Luca first tries to influence Shin's companions, then attacks his sister through Heroes of Shadow. Shin captures and interrogates him, removes his ability, and leaves him severely disabled as a warning to the faction. (Chapters 153 and 177–181)
- Hwaya Eleni Mastiford: Hwaya detects Luca's covert charm in Venice and refuses his offer without letting him provoke a public incident. Her recognition prevents his influence from developing further within the group. (Chapter 153)
- Joshua Brightman: Brightman supplies Luca with information about Revival's members and families through the Heroes of Shadow organization. Luca identifies him as the source when Shin interrogates him. (Chapters 178–181)
- Edward Walker: Walker extracts the charmed Yua from danger and carries her away while Luca's insects pursue them. His intervention gives Shin time to return and locate Luca. (Chapters 177–178)
Items
No named weapon, armor, magical focus, or other cataloged personal item is assigned to Luca. His disguise, charm, area isolation, and monster control are presented as abilities or unexplained techniques rather than equipment effects. (Chapters 153 and 178–179)
