Edward Walker

Edward Walker is a British ability user whose service to the Brightman family gives way to a constrained alliance—and eventually genuine membership—with Revival. He specializes in concealment and surprise attacks rather than conspicuous force. (Chapters 34, 95–98, 141, and 181)

Biography

From Brightman agent to Revival member

Walker first appears as a pragmatic British explorer who warns that death in an Event Dungeon is real, unlike an ordinary dungeon defeat. His family has served the Brightmans for generations, but he conceals his status as a Third Dungeon explorer even from Joshua Brightman. Joshua nevertheless sends him to infiltrate Hwaya Eleni Mastiford's residence and gather private information. Kang Shin detects and defeats him, then binds him with a Soul Contract: Walker must destroy Joshua's intelligence on Hwaya, help Revival, guard Kang Yua, and participate in crises in exchange for a life free of Brightman's control. Walker completes the purge within two days and accepts the repaired guardian bracelet Shin returns to him. (Chapters 39 and 95–98)

Walker advances past the Third Dungeon's fiftieth floor and formally joins Revival, where his early contractual duties become ordinary responsibilities. He helps clear Event Dungeons, guards Yua during school, and later assists Shin in dismantling Joshua's organization. After Walker strikes his former master and refuses Joshua's demand to return, Shin releases the Soul Contract once his loyalty no longer needs coercion. (Chapters 141, 177–181, and 264–265)

Final campaigns

Walker repeatedly fights in Revival's reclamation operations, suffering injuries and equipment losses while protecting Sophie Brightman during the Lava King campaign. He and Sophie later work into the First Dungeon together. By the final wave Sophie is three months pregnant, so Shin orders her to rest and makes Walker shoulder additional work; Walker still joins the assembled fighters before the final confrontation with the Demon Lord. (Chapters 227, 232, 325, 335, and 343)

Appearance and personality

Walker is a young man with black hair, green eyes, and strongly defined facial lines. His first infiltration disguises him as a brown-haired, brown-eyed middle-aged man, but Shin identifies that appearance as the effect of Ghostface rather than Walker's real face. He commonly uses a mask when concealment matters. (Chapters 95–96 and 180)

He is cautious, sardonic, and highly practical. His warning about lethal Event Dungeons and his dislike of being excluded from dangerous missions show a tension between self-preservation and professional pride. Although his first service to Revival is compelled, he fulfills the contract reliably, protects Yua and Sophie under pressure, and remains after the contract is destroyed. His later concern for Sophie and sympathetic pregnancy symptoms expose a more openly caring side beneath his dry manner. (Chapters 39, 98, 177, 227, 232, 264–265, and 335)

Powers and abilities

Walker is an explorer and close-range ability user built around concealment, infiltration, and a decisive first strike. His stealth is strong enough to evade Hwaya's ordinary perception inside her own residence, and Ghostface can change his apparent age, coloring, and facial structure. Shin can still detect him, so neither disguise nor presence suppression is absolute. (Chapters 95–96 and 181)

He reinforces his body and attacks with mana, including a black aura concentrated around his fist. After Shin transfers Xin Shaomei's stolen ability to him, Walker can add debilitating effects to the ambush style he already uses. The corpus does not give that transferred power a complete technique list or demonstrate its upper limit. His dungeon progression—from the Third Dungeon past floor fifty to the First Dungeon—also strengthens him independently of his innate abilities. (Chapters 141, 180–181, and 325)

Relationships

  • Kang Shin: Shin defeats Walker, forces him to abandon Joshua's espionage, and initially secures his cooperation through a Soul Contract. Their distrust develops into combative friendship and enough confidence for Shin to remove the contract voluntarily. (Chapters 95–98, 180–181, and 264–265)
  • Joshua Brightman: Walker's family served Joshua's clan, but Walker secretly withheld his explorer status and resented being treated as property. He ultimately destroys Joshua's files, rejects his authority, and personally strikes him after Shin's victory. (Chapters 95–98 and 180)
  • Sophie Brightman: Walker grows up with Sophie and insists that she treated him as a person rather than a servant. Their mutual attachment becomes an engagement, shared dungeon progression, and a pregnancy shortly before the final battle. (Chapters 151, 180–181, 227, 325, and 335)
  • Hwaya Eleni Mastiford: Walker first violates Hwaya's privacy on Joshua's orders. Destroying the collected intelligence is the first condition of his break with the Brightmans, after which he becomes her guildmate and a dependable participant in Revival's operations. (Chapters 95–98 and 141–343)
  • Kang Yua: Guarding Yua is an explicit term of Walker's contract. He later pulls her away from Luca Bruno's charm effect and protects her until Shin arrives. (Chapters 97, 177–178)

Items

  • Serina's Guardian Bracelet: A bound Epic bracelet that automatically spends Walker's mana to protect him from attacks exceeding his defense. Shin breaks it during their first clash, and Lin rebuilds it around the surviving core with stronger materials. (Chapters 95–98)
  • Ghostface: A disguise tool Walker uses during his infiltration of Hwaya's home. Shin confiscates it after exposing him; it is not established as part of Walker's later equipment. (Chapters 95–96)
  • Later combat equipment: Walker loses much of his gear while protecting Sophie in the Philippines. The replacement set is not individually described in the corpus. (Chapters 227 and 232)
