Fairy No. 264
Fairy No. 264 is the Tutorial Fairy assigned to Busan Station and a recurring accomplice of Undertaker. Initially responsible for enforcing lethal tutorial rules, the tiny administrator surrenders when captured, joins the Fairy Revolution Club's rhetoric to Undertaker's plans, and becomes an employee, guide, referee, and dream specialist. No. 264's mixture of bureaucracy, cowardice, appetite, and loyalty makes the fairy both a reminder of the Tutorial's cruelty and one of humanity's strangest working allies. (Chapters 15–17, 79, 129–130, and 207–209)
Biography
From tutorial official to revolutionary employee
No. 264 begins as the Busan Station guide who can kill a dissenter with a wand and deploy monsters when too many survivors remain. In a vacation cycle, Undertaker captures the fairy and asks what freedom would mean. No. 264 answers with a desire to drive a revolutionary spear into the Fairy King, explains the Fairy Revolution Club's republican ideals, and immediately transfers “undying loyalty” to Undertaker when he offers employment. The result is not liberation in any ordinary sense: the fairy becomes Store Employee Number 1 in his post-apocalyptic convenience store. (Chapters 15–17 and 79)
No. 264 recruits other revolutionary fairies, receives a Saemaul hat and authority over the store's tiny workforce, and helps turn the area into an absurdly effective neutral zone. The fairy supervises troublemakers, handles customers, accepts tips, and remains intensely motivated by a particular cheap sausage. In other cycles, the same relationship alternates between hostile tutorial procedure and alliance errands. Undertaker may threaten, bribe, carry, or command No. 264, but the fairy repeatedly answers calls that place it in danger far beyond ordinary tutorial work. (Chapters 15–17, 24, 44, 63, and 87)
Guide through dreams
The deeper nature of Tutorial Fairies is that they are Baku, dream demons connected through shared or overlapping memory. No. 264 uses that nature to enter dreams, transport companions, summon figures, explain nested Inner Worlds, and help Undertaker navigate spaces where ordinary geography and identity no longer apply. The fairy can call additional Baku, build dream simulations, and work backstage while a human actor occupies a constructed role. These skills make No. 264 especially valuable against Anomalies that hide in memory rather than physical space. (Chapters 129–130, 207–209, 212, 215, 222, and 396–397)
The work is hazardous. No. 264 is bisected during an Outer-God operation and survives only after Sim Ah-ryeon heals the damage; other tournament and dream scenes tear the fairy apart or obliterate it for comic effect. Later appearances do not clarify whether one body regenerates, a connected fairy consciousness supplies continuity, or regression simply presents another cycle's No. 264. The character's loyalty and recognizable manner recur, but the nature of that identity remains less stable than a human life. (Chapters 207–209, 281–282, and 396–402)
Appearance and personality
No. 264 is a tiny, floating, caricature-like fairy with pointed, highly expressive ears and a wand. The fairy later wears a red armband and an oversized green Saemaul hat, visual signs of revolutionary office rather than magical upgrades. Its body can appear cute enough to lower human suspicion while retaining the capacity for sudden lethal action. Narration and dialogue vary between masculine, feminine, and neutral references, so no fixed human gender is established. (Chapters 15–17, 79, and 396)
The fairy is excitable, bureaucratic, theatrical, food-motivated, and cowardly when a stronger being threatens it. Revolutionary slogans can transform fear into instant enthusiasm, especially when Undertaker frames an order as a struggle against reactionaries. No. 264 also demonstrates practical loyalty: it summons allies, guides dangerous dreams, referees battles, and follows instructions even after seeing how readily alliance members can destroy it. Sausages, praise, and a grand title remain the most reliable tools for securing cooperation. (Chapters 15–17, 87, 281, 364, and 396–397)
Abilities
Tutorial authority
No. 264 flies, appears and disappears with simple sound effects, and uses a wand to enforce tutorial rules. The wand can kill humans instantly, summon threats, and administer quests or rewards. Invisibility and small size support scouting and surprise, while fairy bodies can self-destruct or dissolve into liquid under broader collective control. These powers are formidable against new survivors but insufficient against trained alliance members and Outer-God-scale enemies. (Chapters 15–17, 79–82, and 100–102)
Baku dream work
As a dream demon, No. 264 can enter and shape dreams, transport others into Inner Worlds, summon dream figures, and coordinate with other fairies through interconnected memories. It builds controlled scenarios for therapy, investigation, disguise, and combat rehearsal. Dream construction does not guarantee safety: identities can be overwritten, nested layers can trap visitors, and more powerful Anomalies can mutilate or expel the guide. (Chapters 129–130, 207–209, 212, 215, 222, and 396–397)
No formal fairy rank or permanent power advancement is established. “Store Employee Number 1,” “Secretary Fairy,” commander of the Sixth International, and referee are operational offices, not stronger biological or supernatural stages. Accordingly, those changing roles do not form a chronological power progression. (Chapters 15–17, 281, and 396–397)
Relationships
- Undertaker: Undertaker is No. 264's captor, employer, handler, sausage supplier, and most frequent operational partner. Their coercive beginning develops into a reliable exchange: he supplies survival, food, and ideological framing; the fairy supplies tutorial access and dream expertise. (Chapters 15–17, 79, 87, 129–130, and 396–397)
- Fairy King: No. 264 describes the Fairy King as a sovereign who holds fairy lives through lethal controls and becomes a revolutionary target. The King's collective nature complicates the rebellion, because individual fairies may function as terminals of the same system they oppose. (Chapters 15 and 79–82)
- Sim Ah-ryeon: Ah-ryeon heals No. 264 after the fairy is bisected during a dream operation, demonstrating that the small anomalous body can accept human healing under the right conditions. (Chapter 209)
- Cheon Yo-hwa: No. 264 helps Undertaker enter Baekhwa's closed Tutorial Dungeon and later builds the backstage dream environment used to reconstruct Cheon-hwa's role for young Yo-hwa. (Chapters 87 and 396–402)
- Other Tutorial Fairies: No. 264 recruits members of the Fairy Revolution Club, calls other Baku, and accesses shared fairy memory. The connection enables large operations while leaving individual identity boundaries uncertain. (Chapters 15–17, 129–130, and 207–209)
Items
- Wand: No. 264's standard tutorial tool, used to execute rule-breakers, summon dangers, and administer scenarios. It marks official authority but is not shown as a unique artifact exclusive to this fairy. (Chapters 15, 24, and 100–102)
- Saemaul hat and red armband: Undertaker gives No. 264 the oversized green hat and later revolutionary imagery includes a red armband. They signify office and allegiance, not added power. (Chapters 15–17 and 396)
- Sausages: A specific inexpensive sausage is the fairy's preferred reward and Undertaker's most dependable bribe. More expensive substitutes do not produce the same enthusiasm. (Chapters 15–17 and 388)
