Shen Yi

Shen Yi is a ZhongTian battalion commander, Shen Bu's younger sister, and a four-Jeweled Agility-and-Fire Heavenly Jewel Master. Her attempts to defend her soldiers and family pride repeatedly bring her into conflict with Zhou Weiqing, first in the Sixteenth Regiment's Duelling Corner and later at the Peerless Battalion camp.

Biography

Duelling Corner defeat

Shen Yi first enters the Sixteenth Regiment's Duelling Corner after Zhou humiliates one of her company leaders. As the leading Intermediate Ringmaster and that soldier's battalion commander, she challenges Zhou personally, offering him direct promotion to company leader if he wins. Both are four-Jeweled Heavenly Jewel Masters, but Zhou's disguised Wind skills are far above hers in rating. His Silver Emperor Wing Slash cuts through her fireballs, fire shield, and Flame Knives, then slices her sleeves and waist cloth without wounding her. Although the spared life proves his control, the public exposure leaves Shen Yi furious and ashamed. (Chapter 121)

When Shen Bu fights Zhou next and is also defeated, Shen Yi attacks reflexively after seeing her sister pinned and threatened. Zhou knocks her unconscious with a kick before realizing who has struck at him. The sisters' protectiveness is rooted in their childhood: their parents died when they were very young, and a powerful Heavenly Jewel Master adopted them and led them into cultivation. As each other's only remaining blood kin, they depend heavily on one another. Shen Bu subsequently offers Zhou a choice between marrying Shen Yi or being assigned to the Ruffian Battalion. Shen Yi later questions whether that exile is too harsh because Zhou is a genuine military talent, but he chooses the battalion rather than the proposed marriage. (Chapters 122–123)

Heavy-cavalry retaliation

The conflict resumes after the Peerless Battalion strips Shen Bu's personal guards of their equipment. Shen Yi leads one hundred soldiers of the Sixteenth Regiment's First Heavy Cavalry Company to recover it. Her initial mission is a show of force, but Zhou's taunts anger her into ordering a real charge despite a subordinate's reminder that Shen Bu had not authorized combat. She takes responsibility for the order and deploys the company in two staggered lines, demonstrating familiarity with cavalry momentum and formation. (Chapter 126)

Zhou disrupts the charge with explosive and lightning arrows, then panics the horses with his bloodline aura. Even after her mount collapses, Shen Yi orders the company to switch to bows. She personally charges Zhou with a sword, summons a flaming Consolidated sword, and extends its flame nearly three metres, but Shangguan Fei'er evades the strike and knocks her unconscious. The Peerless soldiers take the company's armour and mounts, and Zhou demands payment for their return. Shen Yi withdraws with the defeated soldiers and reports the ransom demand to her sister. The episode exposes both her courage under pressure and the cost of letting humiliation override orders. (Chapters 126–128)

Return of the Peerless Battalion

Shen Yi remains beside Shen Bu when the now-strengthened Peerless Battalion returns to the Seventh Legion. She restrains her anger under Shen Ji's strict order not to provoke Zhou, but the sisters arrange for the new camp to be left full of rubbish. That provocation produces another confrontation in which the Sixteenth Regiment is decisively outmaneuvered. Shen Ji reprimands Shen Bu for risking an internal military conflict and orders her back to headquarters, naming Shen Yi as the regiment's temporary replacement. The corpus records the order but does not show Shen Yi exercising the command afterward. (Chapters 149–151)

Fei'er later recalls that Shen Yi once had feelings for Zhou and wanted to marry him. The surviving scenes support attraction complicated by humiliation rather than a developed romance: Shen Yi is offended when he rejects the proposal, repeatedly seeks redress, yet also recognizes his talent. Her last direct narrative role remains tied to the Sixteenth Regiment and her sister rather than to Zhou's later campaigns. (Chapter 153)

Appearance and personality

Shen Yi is a beautiful woman in her mid-twenties with short pale-green hair, a slim athletic build, wheat-colored skin, and a healthy outdoor complexion. Her features resemble Shen Bu's but are gentler, and her fitted clothing and rolled sleeves give her a spirited, martial appearance. In heavy-cavalry service she wears light cavalry armour with a silver battalion commander's styling and an orange-red plume. (Chapters 121 and 126)

She is valiant, proud, and intensely loyal to her soldiers and sister. Even when a formation collapses, she continues issuing practical orders, but personal anger can eclipse that discipline: she converts a threat display into an unauthorized charge and repeatedly answers Zhou's mockery with escalation. Her willingness to reconsider his punishment in private shows that she is not simply vindictive, while her closeness to Shen Bu explains why injuries or insults to one immediately involve the other. Abilities and cultivation

Shen Yi is a four-Jeweled Low Level Zun Stage Heavenly Jewel Master. Her Dragonstone Jade Physical Jewels provide Agility, and her Star Ruby Elemental Jewels provide Fire. The pairing supports a mobile close-combat style: she closes distance rapidly, projects fire through her hands and weapons, and uses agility to continue attacking after a first exchange. (Chapters 121–122 and 126)

Fire skills and swordsmanship

Her demonstrated Stored Skills include enhanced fireballs, a Swirling Fire Shield, and paired Flame Knives extending from her arms. She can also summon a Consolidated sword and cover it in flame, extending the burning edge several metres for a descending strike. These techniques are effective conventional offense and defense, but their five- to six-star ratings cannot withstand Zhou's ten-star Silver Emperor Wing Slash at equal cultivation. Fei'er's superior speed and close-combat skill likewise let her pass the flaming sword and end their clash with one strike. (Chapters 121 and 127)

Military command and limits

Shen Yi commands a battalion and is trusted with the First Heavy Cavalry Company. She chooses proper charging distance, maintains a staggered formation, and reacts to disrupted cavalry by ordering ranged fire. Her main limitation is judgment under provocation: the unit is trained and equipped to a high standard, but her unauthorized charge walks into an opponent whose explosive arrows, lightning, and beast aura directly neutralize horses and metal armour. Shen Ji's willingness to name her temporary regiment commander nevertheless indicates institutional confidence in her when compared with Shen Bu's compromised state. (Chapters 126–127 and 151)

Relationships

• Shen Bu: Shen Yi and Shen Bu are orphaned sisters, adoptive disciples of the same master, and each other's closest family. Each retaliates when the other is humiliated; Shen Yi is eventually selected to replace Shen Bu temporarily.
• Zhou Weiqing: Their relationship begins with a public duel and develops into mutual grievance. Shen Yi is attracted to his ability and is offended by his rejection, while Zhou repeatedly defeats and embarrasses her but avoids killing or seriously injuring her.
• Shangguan Fei'er: Fei'er defeats Shen Yi during the heavy-cavalry clash and takes her armour. Shen Yi mistakes the disguised Fei'er's closeness with Zhou for a romantic relationship between two men.
• Shen Ji: Shen Ji is her senior brother under the same master and her superior in the Seventh Legion. He restrains the sisters' feud with Zhou and names Shen Yi as the Sixteenth Regiment's temporary commander.

Items

Shen Yi owns a Consolidated sword that can carry and extend her Fire Attribute power. She also uses standard ZhongTian light-cavalry command armour and an ordinary sword. Her armour and command plaque are taken during the Peerless Battalion confrontation; the corpus does not establish whether or when those pieces are returned.
