Shen Ji

Shen Ji commands the ZhongTian Northwest Army's Seventh Legion. He initially treats Zhou Weiqing and the Ruffian Battalion as a discipline problem, but repeated evidence—from their powerful backers to their battlefield results—turns him into a pragmatic sponsor and eventually an advocate for the Peerless Battalion.

Biography

From disciplinary intervention to guarded support

After the Ruffian Battalion seizes a heavy-cavalry company's equipment, Shen Ji accompanies his junior apprentice-sister Shen Bu to recover it. He accepts Zhou's proposed wager, but the unexpected appearance of several God Tier Consolidated Equipment pieces makes him suspect that Zhou and Shangguan Fei'er may be WanShou infiltrators. Protecting the army and nearby civilians, he abandons the wager and coordinates an arrest; Zhou's Dragon Silencing Seal and Fei'er's revelation that she belongs to Heaven's Expanse Palace end the confrontation without deaths. Shen Ji thereafter tells Shen Bu to tolerate and support the battalion, arranges its trading permission, and recalls it from an exposed frontier position because he is concerned for Fei'er's safety. Accepting the Peerless Battalion on its results

Shen Ji intervenes again when violence between Shen Bu's regiment and the Peerless Battalion threatens to become an internal battle. He rules that the intruding soldiers caused the disturbance and, after learning that Long Shiya is probably a Heavenly Emperor, helps convert the crisis into recruits, pay, provisions, and broad operational freedom. His caution then becomes evidence-based respect: when Hua Feng refuses to lend him five thousand troops, Shen Ji accepts a wager against the elite Heavy Infantry Regiment, judges the contest, honors the Peerless victory, and places the defeated regiment under its command. He likewise refuses requests to reverse that order merely to spare embarrassment. Once the Peerless archers annihilate two WanShou regiments, Shen Ji personally reports that all five thousand are Jewel Masters with Consolidated Bows; the high command responds by ordering him to lead a guard force in their support. Appearance and personality

Shen Ji first appears as a sun-darkened man of about forty with a dignified, stately bearing that marks him as a senior officer. His later rank and responsibilities reinforce that impression: he commands roughly one hundred thousand soldiers and is accustomed to immediate obedience. (Chapter 128)

He is proud and initially severe, but neither reckless nor rigid. His suspicion of Zhou follows from unfamiliar God Tier equipment appearing inside a sensitive border command, and he changes policy when he learns who stands behind the pair. More importantly, he honors wagers even when his own elite regiment loses, distinguishes institutional responsibility from personal grievance, and redirects a surprising new force toward the wider war rather than trying to suppress it. Abilities and cultivation

Shen Ji is an eight-Jeweled Mid Level Zong Stage Heavenly Jewel Master. His Icy Jade Physical Jewels enhance Strength, while his golden-diamond Elemental Jewels give him the Earth Attribute. He has no God Tier Consolidated Equipment in the cited corpus, and his advantages come instead from superior Heavenly Energy, a seven-piece Zong Stage set, layered defense, and restraint Skills suited to capturing dangerous targets. His Jingang Shield raises a dense Earth-Attribute barrier around his body, while Rock Armour adds another protective layer. Jingang Binding, Cage of Hell creates four five-meter rock walls and an interlocking overhead barrier, enclosing several dozen square meters; it is an expensive containment field that lets allied attackers fire inward, not a direct damaging strike. His nine-star Chains of War produces two yellow chains capable of piercing the defenses of a substantially weaker target, preventing Blink and restricting movement until Shen Ji exhausts his Heavenly Energy or dies. The restraint is reciprocal enough that a target who resists cannot simply be dragged away, and a sufficiently close cultivation level can block the chain with overlapping God Protective Auras. Zhou's Dragon Silencing Seal is a further hard counter because it suppresses Shen Ji's Stored Skills and Consolidated Equipment. (Chapters 129–130)

Relationships

• Shen Bu: Shen Bu is Shen Ji's junior apprentice-sister and subordinate. Their long training gives them close tactical coordination, but Shen Ji also restrains her vendetta once he understands the political and military risks.
• Zhou Weiqing: Shen Ji moves from trying to overawe and arrest Zhou to honoring his bargains, granting his unit freedom, and reporting its value to high command. The change follows proof rather than personal warmth.
• Shangguan Fei'er: Fei'er's concealed identity first makes her equipment suspicious; revealing her Heaven's Expanse Palace status forces Shen Ji to reassess the entire incident and protect the battalion partly for her sake.
• Hua Feng: Hua Feng refuses Shen Ji's attempt to borrow Peerless troops and turns it into a formal wager. Shen Ji accepts the result and integrates the lost Heavy Infantry Regiment under Hua Feng's command.
• Long Shiya: Recognizing Long Shiya's likely Heavenly Emperor status ends further retaliation and gives the Peerless Battalion an effective “green light” within the Northwest Army.
