Abyss Mirror

The Abyss Mirror is a Sacred Treasure associated with the Shadow Supreme. It becomes one of Neo Hargraves's most consequential artifacts by recording powers through interaction, preserving its progress across altered timelines, and later providing the logic behind his reconstructed abilities.

History

The Shadow Supreme's reward

Neo first learns the treasure's name while fighting a black dragon in the Abyss of Nightmares. A message from A #22 identifies the Abyss Mirror as part of the Shadow Supreme and as a reward granted by him. The message also explains that the mirror has already been answering Neo's wishes: it records techniques according to how well he understands them and how directly he interacts with them. The treasure then manifests in Neo's hand as a small circular mirror with a black back and displays the powers it has been copying. (Chapters 474–475)

Copying through the Abyss

Neo tests the mirror against the Nyxtharion fragments guarding the Abyss. Seeing an attack produces only slight progress, while being struck by a technique or fighting through it creates much faster gains. He exploits that rule through repeated battles and time loops, accumulating Adamant Aegis and Ragnarok Exhalation Dragon Breath even when the encounters themselves are rewound. When Adamant Aegis reaches Supreme mastery, the mirror unlocks Merge Echo, which lets further copies overlap a mastered technique and push it toward a higher rank. (Chapters 475–485)

The mirror's stored percentages do not regress with time. That persistence lets Neo recognize when the dragons have changed the timeline and makes the artifact useful as both a power archive and an independent record of events. He later discovers that memories of contact can also contribute to copying: after devouring beings who met Tartarus, their remembered interactions raise his stored Shadow Core percentage. Reconstruction and expanded storage

After Neo becomes Nameless Death, the mirror is more than a copying tool. Its stored Shadow Core Concept helps rebuild his body, soul, and Seed of Existence from his surviving consciousness and World Energy. He also calls stored attacks directly from it, including a Death Sword, and treats it as the external repository for techniques that do not need to burden his Cores. Its entries eventually extend beyond ordinary attacks to records such as Soul of Persephone. (Chapters 577, 580, 583–584, 587, 596, and 601)

Consumption and successor copies

Nameless Death ultimately decides that keeping the mirror separate limits what he can do with its design. He devours the Sacred Treasure so he can merge its logic with Core Creation. The original floats within his power as it is broken down, and its last fragment dissolves into knowledge before the artifact's core vanishes. (Chapters 637–639)

He later recreates a black mirror with the Shadow Core Concept and places that weaker version inside a Womb of Devil. This successor can imitate the original's function, but Neo explicitly distinguishes it from the lost Sacred Treasure because he cannot reproduce the original's unique energy. (Chapters 641–642)

Properties and use

• Technique recording: The mirror can record techniques, Spells, and Concepts. Progress depends on the user's existing understanding and degree of interaction with the power being copied. (Chapters 474–475)
• Interaction requirement: Direct contact, enduring a technique, or repeatedly fighting its user advances a copy faster than observation at a distance. This makes powerful defensive and offensive abilities costly to acquire. (Chapters 475, 477–478)
• Timeline persistence: Stored copy percentages remain after time is rewound, unlike ordinary memories and events affected by the regression. (Chapter 486)
• Merge Echo: Once a stored technique reaches Supreme mastery, further compatible copies can overlap it and increase its rank. (Chapter 485)
• External archive: The mirror can hold techniques outside Neo's Cores and call stored manifestations into battle. Its menu exposes the entries and their recorded state. (Chapters 580, 583, and 596)
• Reconstruction medium: With World Energy and a suitable stored Concept, a surviving consciousness can use the mirror to reconstruct otherwise destroyed aspects of existence. (Chapters 577 and 584)
• Replication limit: Neo can reproduce the mirror's learned structure after consuming it, but not the unique Sacred Treasure energy of the original. (Chapters 639 and 641)
